Just had my weekly grocery delivery from aitrs*

Line items - 58
Substitutions - 11 (all bar one acceptable, thankfully)
Not available - 2

So a sucess rate of 81.6%

Can anyone beat this?

Asterisks obviously don't work as placeholders - how about W??tr?s?

You can just call it Waitrose. It’s not like it’s an offensive word, and you haven’t disguised it sufficiently for anyone to be unsure which shop you mean.

But anyway, yes - that’s very poor. The last couple of times I’ve been into Waitrose to get a couple of things, stocks have been really low on loads of items. Actually, the same is true of Sainsbury’s and Aldi (those three are my usual supermarkets). Waitrose have been issuing vouchers at the till with apologies for low stock.

Sissynova · 01/06/2023 12:33

At the end of the day substitutions are always going to happen when orders are picked from a shop. They just can't predict stock levels days or a week in advance.
If you wrote a list of specific brand and sized items and went in store I imagine the percentage would be similar.
Most waitrose orders are picked from shops, same with Adsa and they have loads of subs too.

I order from ocado and only occasionally have 1 item substituted.

KateyCuckoo · 01/06/2023 12:34

Why can't you just call it Waitrose?

BreviloquentBastard · 01/06/2023 12:35

Why does Waitrose need to be censored???

That's quite poor though, I've never had more than 1 or 2 things subbed or unavailable with Tesco.

Circumferences · 01/06/2023 12:35

YABU to do your weekly shop at Waitrose 😂

OrigamiOwls · 01/06/2023 12:36

I'm intrigued as to why Waitrose was censored?!

CrappyJob · 01/06/2023 12:39

That's a lot!

In my store, we have a target in the high 90's for availability. That's overall, not for any one given customer. If this is what it's like generally, this would be noticed! Having said that, there are occasionally shops that have a higher unavailable rate than others - but I've never seen one nearly that bad.

Motnight · 01/06/2023 12:44

I have noticed Waitrose having more items unavailable and providing more substitutions over the last few months. It's annoying.

lalalalalalaleeee · 01/06/2023 12:50

Our local Waitrose had no stock all weekend... I can't remember the reason why but all fridges were empty

Laiste · 01/06/2023 12:50

The substitution/out of stock shenanigans is why i hardly ever do grocery shopping online. There's a very small percentage of items i'm happy for them to substitute which means i risk ending up with no shopping!

I do order a big delivery to arrive at whatever holiday place we rent because there's lots of us and none of us want to go shopping. One year we received a single mushroom in a bag and 30 whole garlic bulbs. (That was probably my fault with the ordering though)

We weren't holidaying in Transylvania ..... 😂

justanothernamechangemonday · 01/06/2023 15:19

Waitrose has just had a massive tech incident that's meant out of stocks are unusually high. Things will be back to normal in a week or so.

Crunchymum · 01/06/2023 15:32

Waitrose was barren when I went in last week (this was 10am on a Friday!!)

But I've had shopping not turn up at all more than once**

**I've been doing online shopping almost weekly for over a decade so it's not as bad as it sounds.

towriteyoumustlive · 01/06/2023 15:51

Ocado. Ordered 8am, delivered 6pm the same day and 100% of the food shop was there. Yay!

ASDA were so awful I gave up! Tesco are usually pretty good.

CorBlimeyGovnr · 01/06/2023 15:53

Why was Waitrose censored?!
