Just wondered if anyone else knows anything about this

im at uni so go out quite a lot to clubs and parties and festivals and stuff like that. since starting to go out I’ve noticed that when I listen to certain music (for example, certain loud music in nightclubs) I can physically feel it in my chest. As in, I can feel the vibrations of the beat (bass maybe?) of the music pounding in my chest. Sometimes it feels annoying but tolerable, other times it makes me feel physically sick and a bit funny and I absolutely can’t tolerate it and have to leave. Tonight was like that- it was a pop song but a club remix and had a strong beat/bass (not sure what it’s called) and every beat I could feel it in my chest sort of making my chest vibrate/beat

i asked my friend about it but they had no clue what I meant and think I’m being dramatic about loud club music but it’s not the volume in my ears it’s the chest feeling that’s the problem.

I don’t have any heart problems- I was born with a hole in my heart but it closed as a baby and I didn’t need any treatment for it

Does anyone else get this and have any advice to make it stop? It’s really annoying and I can’t ignore it when it’s bad because it’s unbearable

thanks in advance!

O cant help how to stop it, I do get this but I don't get anxious from it, I really love the feeling especially at a gig / concert (never really been a clubber) We often discuss it and others get it as well. Feel the power of the music!

I think it is called bass impact and it is from low frequencies vibrating inside your body cavity. I get it too. I expect it is detrimental to your hearing as well.

It's the sound wave which is at a particular frequency that you can feel it in your heart as well as your eardrums. Usually very loud or bassy music.

Happens to most people. It's not a problem. You're just experiencing it for the first time.

Yes. I have a friend who has Tinnitus due to loud noise at concerts and standing too close to the amplifiers. We are in our 60's but read a report that more young people are getting it.

There is a certain type of music that I randomly came across on youtube (speedcore? nightcore? something like that - fast and bassy), that gives me enormous anxiety, never had it in a normal club tho, but perhaps club music has changed of late.

I couldnt go to a club that played that kind of music.
