Mum guilt- any tips?

First time mum to the most gorgeous 4 month old baby.
Feel so so guilty all the time over nothing.
If she’s asleep during the day - I feel guilty that we are not out walking and letting her get fresh air. If she is playing (happily) in her activity chair, I feel guilty that we should be at a class so she can see other babies.
Is this normal????? She is a really happy, content baby and I’m truly loving being a mum.
Any tips on how to stop thinking like this or is this just part and parcel of motherhood?
Thank you for reading!

Yes...don't.
Babies need to sleep to grow and they need to learn that not every second isn't filled with an activity and they need to entertain themselves sometimes.

You need to not overthink things.

Mum guilt is normal to a degree, but I think with the examples you've given, you need to consciously confront your guilty thoughts and flip them because I think it's a shame if you’re having these daily and it's taking away some of your enjoyment.

For example, your home and your lo is asleep. The guilty thought pops in your head that you should be out and about getting fresh air. Confront that thought and instead tell yourself that your baby being well rested is good for them. Remind yourself that an overtired baby is an unhappy baby and that your baby will better enjoy their day having had a rest.

It can feel weird to force yourself to think a certain way, but it can be a really effective way of changing your pattern of thinking.

Remember, the very best thing you can do for your child is make them feel loved and safe. That beats fresh air and baby groups every time. You're nailing it!
