I just had my 20 week scan and the sonographer accidentally let slip that we’re having another boy (we were hoping to keep it a surprise). We’re still going to keep it as a surprise for our family so other than DH I don’t really have anyone to talk to about it, so I wanted to share here. I’m so so excited!.
Ever since I was little I wanted to be a mum of 2 boys, I’m not sure why, it just always felt like what I was meant to have. I would’ve been happy either way, our baby is healthy and doing great, but the news of another boy was just the icing on the cake.
DH is one of 2 boys and is really excited because he’s so close to his brother and can’t wait for our boys to (hopefully) be the same. We’re just so so happy and had to share it somewhere!.

caringcarer that's what people post every time there's yet another post about how much someone wanted a boy. I have read many many posts about boys loving their mums , being cuddly, no stress or drama. I cannot recall a post where someone said they were so happy to be having a second girl, and everyone piled in with what is so wonderful about girls. It never happens, but when the boy posts pop up, it's excused as a balance to the non existent girl posts.

I think the PP is just referring to posts where people have been disappointed about having a son or 2nd/3rd son etc because they wanted a daughter. I have seen a few of these.

Thank you, MoonwitchMum I know I'm being tetchy and that was a kind response. I've been here a long time and I haven't seen much disappointment re boys. I think I've seen some " I'm having a second boy, please tell me what's great about boys" and then everyone does, including mentioning how stroppy, difficult their girls are , but I've never seen any actual disappointment, and quite rightly there shouldn't be! Just as a mum of three girls I see so much negativity on here about hormones and behaviour etc. I have never seen a post about girls being great and criticising boys ! I actually think having 2/3 same of either sex is wonderful and I'm happy for the OP. I love my nephews, boys are great, I just don't think that ** this really is a balance, a post celebrating girls doesn't exist.

Sorry MoonWitchMum

Newname47 · 31/05/2023 20:48

How lovely, having two the same is fabulous! Bet you can't wait to see them bond as they get older.

@salmonlinguineplease how funny, I've seen the boy disappointment ones more. Maybe we remember the ones we're offended by. Girls are great too!

salmonlinguineplease · 31/05/2023 20:52

Thank you Newname47 maybe that's true, I don't want to derail the thread, boys and girls are great, congratulations OP!

I know what you mean, I think sometimes to make others’ feel better about not experiencing a son/daughter people like to put the other sex down. I’m one of 3 girls and I love having sisters. Every child is a blessing.

Congratulations.

I’ve got 2 sons, aged 26 and 28. I wouldn’t want anything else. They’re absolutely amazing, completely different but the very best friends and have been since day 1. They treat me like royalty and I feel completely blessed to have them.

Enjoy your lovely boys. 💙

thelengthspeoplegoto · 31/05/2023 21:16

Congratulations! I am a mum to two boys. 3 year age gap. They bicker like hell but also have a really tight bond. When they play nicely, it's lovely to see. I hope they're close as adults.

This happened to me, we asked not to know the sex, the sonographer accidentallly let slip a 'he' turns out that's how he refers to all babies..... my dd is currently sat opposite me!

Most sonographers I know call the mother she/her and the baby him/he regardless of the sex as it’s easier when discussing with a colleague or training to know which person they are referring to.

I’m surprised they let slip at 20 weeks as it’s a good zoom to know for certain that the genitals aren’t just swollen and experience means most people find out at 20 weeks, so it’s usually a specific question that is asked to see if the parents want to know.

MeeThree · 31/05/2023 21:18

Congratulations!

Lwrenagain · 31/05/2023 21:30

Wonderful news!
I adore watching my sons play, it's just the best thing!
I'm really happy for you!

MoonWitchMom · 31/05/2023 21:31

Thank you again everyone!. It’s so great to hear people’s experiences with grown up boys too. We’ve spent the evening sorting through the clothes we kept from when DS was a baby and it’s all feeling so real and exciting now!.

It was very obvious he is a boy from what came up on the scan, but I also think the sonographer believed that we wanted to know as they were quite open about what they saw.

Congrats OP, we're talking about TTC baby number 2 and I would love to have 2 boys (of course if I found out no2 was a girl I would be equally happy, I just adore the thought of 2 boys)
