Housing association offer why is viewing taking long?

Cousin got a call from local housing association saying she came first at the start of the month for a new house, it’s the end now basically 4 weeks later and still no viewing scheduled?

Is this normal, she’s viewed outside, looked around area but last she heard is “hopefully” it’ll be cleared and cleaned up soon.

Not to add if any works have been done on it? She has no clue.

Do they generally advertise like this? When we visited the house it still looked lived from the outside. We didn’t knock.

Yeah I'm guessing this or squatters

If it needed work doing inside, electrics, new kitchen etc, then they won't let you view until it's done as it's classed a work site.

Ours took ages before we got to see inside. It needed lots of work done to it and it wasn't until it was ready to hand over/lease be signed that we even got to view :/

Some housing associations do offer properties as soon as the tenant gives notice. They want to let the property ASAP. But they might then find that some work needs to be done prior to the next tenant moving in, so there will be a wait between offer and tenancy starting.

How long did this take? I thought they only advertised when ready. We both just want to see inside at this point 😂

This happened when we gave notice on my parents HA house. The woman across the street got told 3 days later it would be hers (she lived with her 2 DC's in a flat). There was a lot of work that had to be done so she didn't get to view the interior for about 2 months. We did measure up for her when we were clearing it out (it was November/December 2020 so we were unable to let her inside). We also took photos of the interior with the caveat that the kitchen/bathroom/stairs were all going to be replaced but it gave her the general idea of the layout. She was very grateful and I'm so glad that the house continues to have a happy family living there.

Aw that’s nice. I didn’t realise it worked that way. Thank you
