Chocolate chips in ice cream is like chewing on bits of crayon.

You can neither taste nor appreciate the chocolate chip due to its coldness and it doesn't get the chance to melt, or change state at all in fact. Therefore, pointless.

I knew they reminded me of something! 🤔

Coca Cola chewits remind me of pencil shavings, is that weird? Not that I have had any for donkeys…

Place marking for the recommendations :-)

Same!

McFlurrys are the worst for this, freezing cold bits of weird chocolate ruining a nice ice cream. I order mine without pieces.

CoQ10 · 30/05/2023 22:04

YaBU.

Try Taste Of Sidmouth. You will convert.

I'm a weirdo who hates chocolate melting or even just being at room temperature. It has to be straight out the fridge or freezer and I love the "crack" feeling of super cold chocolate when you bite it.

Tbh I'm not really a big chocolate person anyway, I'd rather have a bag of crisps. Grin

Go to lidl. But their (not fancy, crap looking £2.50 p/l) ice cream. Chocolate or mint choc chip. 70 per cent cocoa. It melts. It’s lush.

This.
It's divine. Made with proper cream not palm oil, biģ chunks of chocolate.

Equal weirdo here. I’m not at all a sweet tooth, but I love that dutty chocolate sauce you can pour over ice cream, let it go hard, and then CRACK it with a spoon! *dribble

One of the nicest ice creams I ever had was a chocolate chip chocolate one. Only ever got it bought in a special shop by my grandmother, I have no idea what the brand was, but it was all I'd eat (and, incidentally, I have rejected all other kinds of chocolate ice cream ever since).

HappiDaze · 30/05/2023 23:33

I absolutely agree with this. I hate the chocolate chunk pieces. Brownies pieces are fine but not chocolate bits

TheMurderousGoose · 30/05/2023 23:37

This is why I dislike Ben and Jerry's ice cream. All the extraneous rubble.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/05/2023 23:39

Well I've only ever enjoyed mint chocolate chip and I let them melt on my tongue, who chews icecream?

SparklyBlackKitten · 31/05/2023 01:50

Stop eating cheap icecream

And crayons;)

Yes its particularly bad in Ben and Jerry's.

So bad in fact I always have to spit the pieces out. They put them in all the bloody flavours it seems

user1477391263 · 31/05/2023 04:00

Someone needs to develop “ice cream chocolate chips” that have a much lower melting point.

user1477391263 · 31/05/2023 04:02

Ice cream cake can fuck off as well. If it is right out of the fridge, the cake part is frozen and tasteless. If you let it come to room temperature, you end up with soggy cake due to the ice cream melting. Gross.

Wallywobbles · 31/05/2023 06:11

If you make semi-freddo (sp) and crumble flake into it it's pretty good.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 31/05/2023 06:20

YABU.

This only happens with crap ice cream.

Buy the proper stuff with proper chocolate!

TriedTurningItOff · 31/05/2023 09:32

You know... you make a good point ..

Muu · 31/05/2023 09:55

Yes!! Chocolate should not be cold.

HecticHedgehog · 31/05/2023 10:06

I love cold chocolate
