Manager thinks I over stepped the line?

started my new role 3 weeks ago I was promised 2 weeks training then wfh. He dragged his feet ordering my wfh equipment so I went and chased it up myself. The reason it was taking so long is because he ordered quite a lot of screens. So I could have been waiting weeks for them to deliver them as they didn’t have all of them in stock.

I went and collected it as I am fed up with commute to be honest and I felt like if I didn’t sort it myself I would have been commuting for weeks.

I just felt like everyone was taking the mick I appreciate I am training. But no one was in the office to train me anyway it was all over teams.

AIBU? I don’t think I over stepped the line at all.

Well you did a little bit because from what you've wrote you didn't chase it up with him and ask if you could collect and decided to take it upon yourself.

Because when I have asked about other things before he has took forever to come back to me. I just can’t be bothered with all the faff!

I think it's totally fine to go pick up your own equipment but I wouldn't have started working from home until they said I could.

Sounds like you were showing initiative - I would have been pleased you had sorted it yourself and saved me the task!

Your manager might get fed up with you because you seem able to do his job better than he can. The last time I did anything like that, it was well received, however I got lumbered with doing it for everybody else.

he already said I was fine to wfh but I was waiting for screens to be delivered.

‘Promised’ WFH or does your contract expressly say this would be the case?

Where did you pick the screen up from ?

maybe they were delaying it to delay your work from home
