DS does not stop talking/ won't sleep

My ds (6) is a beautiful, bright, curious boy. We are a pretty chaotic family and so bedtime isn't at an early enough time but he refuses to sleep. He just talks and talks, asking endless questions about mammoths and dreams and films and facts. I have to stop engaging with him, which I don't like doing, but otherwise he will just carry on and on.
Tonight it was half past 11, two hours after starting to wind things down. How can he not be tired? He has had a day of running about, two park visits, playing outdoors, imaginative play etc. I'm a single mum and I just feel exhausted and also guilty for being cross at him for just wanting to talk to me.
School haven't noticed anything except his imagination and curiosity. Other dc has autism so I've queried other traits but really this is the only thing but this is the only thing which stands out. But could and probably is much more likely to just be a personality trait. He is very much a night owl.
I'm not and I'm off to bed.

Both of mine were like this at this age but having a consistent routine helped a lot

It's ok to say to a child, 'that's enough chatting for now. It's time to go to sleep'. He won't be scarred for life.
