To think there are Scofield bots on here doing a PR salvage

Basically I can see many discussions about Philip or Holly quickly devolve into accusations of homophobia, derailing the original topic. For instance, when people engage in a conversation about grooming, there are individuals who interject by saying that men often groom young women, implying that the outrage is solely due to Philip being gay. Others question whether grooming is illegal or immoral, dismissing its significance.

It seems apparent that these individuals, with their disingenuous remarks, are deliberately trying to divert the conversation. This tactic reminds me of what I observed in a documentary about Scientology, where a Channel 4 journalist became defensive and irrational in an attempt to deflect criticism.

In essence, the PR bots of Philip label anyone who dares to question the grooming as homophobic.

There are several accounts, they post, want is the problem, homophobe, Caroline Flack, Noel from 20 kids and Cheryl Cole.

Tattle life tells it how it is

Jobseeker19 · 27/05/2023 23:05

It's pissing me off as I can see how obvious it is. Using him being gay as a straw man. As if no one on mumsnet has complained about men grooming young girls.

Grooming Mums that it is normal.

EvilElsa · 27/05/2023 23:10

A lot of people just say stuff to shit stir. You can see it on nearly every thread, especially those which are likely to inspire very strong feelings. I highly doubt most of the controversial comments are real views. The desire for a bun fight is strong on every forum, it's no difference here.

GoOnHoliday · 27/05/2023 23:11

Now he has nothing to do all day, he may be in here trying to change the culture of Mums and what is acceptable. I hope the police are watching him.

Thebigblueballoon · 27/05/2023 23:11

Or perhaps Mumsnet is just full of different types of twats? Who knew.

T1Dmama · 28/05/2023 02:06

I think people might not want to pass judgement til all the facts are out.

WandaWonder · 28/05/2023 05:30

If the police can charge him with an offence then charge him , if he has not done anything illegal then maybe hating him is not a hobby for some unlike those who have nothing else in their lives that being vocal about a celebrity they only know through reading random stuff off the internet and think they know it all?

And no I am not a fan of his

realityhack · 28/05/2023 05:34

I'm finding it a bit odd the constant "oh but he hasnt technically done anything wrong!" as if they'd be absolutely fine with a 40 year old man befriending their son when he was 12, sending him texts and messages on SM at age 15 and then the second he became legal having sex with him and then getting him fired when he no longer served his purpose. They'd all be cool with that? Riiiight. Its a safeguarding issue.

Well said @ realityhack

DrMarciaFieldstone · 28/05/2023 06:13

I think some people don’t read Twitter at all, so had no idea of the rumours, and seem very naive to be taking the statements from him at face value, and can’t understand that there’s more behind it.

Also probably the same people who’ve watched him on tv for 30 years, and can’t bear to think that they’ve been hoodwinked, so would rather bat it away in defence. People don’t like to think they have bad judgment.

Yeah true. Having grown up in the 80s and finding out that most of the tv presenters I used to love as a kid turned out to be paedophiles/predators shattered that dream for me, and now nothing shocks me about the entertainment industry, sadly.

SoShallINever · 28/05/2023 06:19

PS is a disgrace and I hate the fact that, even post Jimmy Saville, TV "stars" are still untouchable and protected by their companies.
However there is absolutely homophobic nonsense being thrown about by some posters on MN. I had to leave a thread about HW yesterday after a poster stated that HW was young, straight and beautiful while PS was old and gay. I mean WTAF.
The man is a creep but not because he is gay.

SequinsandStilettos · 28/05/2023 06:21

A 34 year old age gap may not be illegal but it raises many questions as to power dynamics and safeguarding.
If anything, it didn't come out before precisely because outing closeted celebrities is a no-go. Potential accusations of homophobia protected PS then so PR are hoping they can use it now to deflect criticism of his choices.

I totally agree, I hate to think that these posters might have kids. Their bar is set so low, or they're just thick. Probably both.

I can't believe this is serious.

His mum, wife and daughters are probably mumsnetters.
