A further warning about the downfall of NHS dentistry....

Over the past 10 years I have had two infected teeth, and both times the NHS dentist's recommendation was to pull the teeth out.

I am not able to use the NHS dentist service anymore because like most, there is no availability. I am fortunate enough to now have a cheap medical plan with work so was able to use a hygienist, who told me that because now I have nothing for the opposing teeth to bite down on, they too are now coming down and out of my gumline, which will eventually be like a row of collapsing dominoes unless I spend thousands on implants. Ironically the difference was the private dentist did not push for me to spend any money with them, they properly cleaned my teeth unlike the NHS, and gave me really good advice on maintaining oral hygiene etc. Free pack of great flossing picks.

It made me so sad because thats how I remember the NHS dentists being when I was younger.

Anyway....dont just let the NHS dentists pull your teeth because its quicker.

it wouldn’t have to be implants though, you could get a (much cheaper) bridge or a denture.

I’m not loving my bridge but there is no way could I get implants. I wish I had just put up with the pain though, rather than accepting removal of a front tooth. Hindsight hey?
