To think that free NHS dentistry should be available to all children and especially ones with disabilities.

My disabled child is in receipt of DLA. He cannot get to see an NHS dentist because there are no NHS spaces in our county at all. None.
There is a surgery in the next county 2 hours away who might consider him but they will only take him on if I sign up to Denplan.
Surely this is extortion?

It's all very well remembering it at the next election, but I live in Wales and our situation is just as bad.

Wales' funding is decided by the prosperity of the U.K. and thanks to the Tories and Brexit we don't have the prosperity we should have.

Because disabled kids are more likely to not be capable of cleaning their own teeth and/or won't let anyone else clean them due to behavioural difficulties etc, leading to worse dental health than those without disabilities who understand about dental hygiene.

The complete incompetence of eg Betsi Cadwalladr Health Board , Europes largest health authority , which has been in and out of special measures for years , is now being investigated for missing funds would say that in some parts of Wales its total incompetence that is the problem.
Betsi has mortality rates in hospital which are the highest in the U.K. , the mental health services have been deemed a disgrace by inspectors and dental services are in disarray with amongst the lowest availability of dentists in the U.K.
