sons rash/ hives ... allergies?

ds 8 has as few times in his life come out in a hive like rash. we thuoght it was from horses as it seemed to be when he had been around his grandma who has horses.

a couple of weeks ago he had hive like swellings around his eyes, which went down after antihistimine, we thought may be hayfever.

since then he has had an episode of hives near eyes and today a very itchy ear and spots/hives on it, again going down with antihistimines.

his dad has allergies and hayfever, sister has an allergy to penicillin so it does run in the family.
he has an appointmnent next week with GP

my question really is, is the GP likely to do ay kind of allergy test? from what ive heard, they dont tend to like doing them? i have kept a diary of things he has eaten/ come into contact with and places he has been but there doesnt tseem to be a common link. i am really doubtful about hayfever as he has no other symptoms of it and all the episodes have been when indoors, not out

any advice welcome as i worry about going to the GP and being told to just keep an eye on him and not getting to the bottom of it. thank you

From my experience is varies as to whether they’ll test or not. They might want you to keep recording and wait to see if a pattern can be seen. I knew it was a certain food for one of mine. So they tested to be sure. A friends DC was having very serious reactions so they did various tests to try to work out what it was. I hope you get to bottom of it.

DS was tested after a suspected allergy to eggs. The GP referred us and didn't do the actual testing.
Went on to be confirmed allergic to peanuts, eggs (though has grown out of it), sesame, dust as well as having hay-fever.
Keep the diary though as, if they do test, it will narrow down exactly what they need to test for.
He has eczema and asthma too, so really drew the short straw!

Thank you, your poor ds

I have bad health anxiety too so my brain is just going to him having some kind of anaphylactic shock x
