To spend 1.5hrs at a viewing of puppies?

When we went to get my (now beloved dog of my very own!) I spent ages (1.5hrs) chatting to the breeder and playing with the puppies and asking 9384783726 questions.

At the time I didn’t think that was weird but now someone that I know is selling her litter of puppies and mentioned that a prospective buyer stayed ages and they thought they were never going to leave…!

It got me thinking, I wonder if the breeder I got my dog from thought I was never going to leave either…?!

How long did y’all stay when going to see a litter for the first time?

Seems fair enough. You need to see the puppies for more than a quick 5 minute visit. I think once it reached two hours it would be a bit like..er..

Anyone besides me think it’s unacceptable that there is an ad for buying “Rare Korean Maltipoo” puppies online coming up on this thread?

It's unrelated to the thread. Ads are generated via an algorithm based on various factors of your online behaviour - I don't see a puppy ad, I'm getting 'try intermittent fasting'! Joy.

When we got our puppy we were at the breeders about 2 hours. We had talked a few times on the phone but she told us she would be asking us some questions and also not to assume just because we had a 3 hour drive that we would be going away with a puppy. We were more than happy with that.

When I got my GR pup from a very reputable breeder, she encouraged us to stay as long as we wanted. She had already conducted a phone interview before she even let us see the pups (wouldn't even give us her full address until after that). We saw the puppies first at 3 weeks old and visited twice after that.
She was viewing US just as much as we were viewing puppies.
She had the final say on exactly which puppy we had although we could choose the sex. She observed us, the family dynamic, how we spoke to the dogs and then matched us with the puppy she thought had the right personality for us.
She was absolutely spot on and we enjoyed her support for the next 14 years.
