Itchy fucking neck

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about why my neck would be so itchy?? I haven’t used any new products and I eliminated all products and cosmetics for a while to see if it helped but it didn’t so it’s not that. Antihistamines made no difference aswell. It’s only my neck- nowhere else on my body. It’s insanely itchy at the front of it where my adams apple would be if I was a guy. The skin isn’t dry or irritated and there’s no eczema or psoriasis on it. It’s so itchy I nearly drew blood scratching it so hard. It started recently and nothing is helping.

does anyone know what this could be and how to stop it?? It’s so uncomfortable and I’m miserable with it

Which antihistamine have you tried? I find fexofenadine to be more helpful with skin rashes (lupus) but crap at runny noses or itchy eyes for instance. You can buy that one otc as Allevia but its expensive.

Otherwise has a small money spider bit you? You probably can't tell now but bites can cause terrible itching. Soothe it with Savlon for now.

I know I sound like my mother, but: stop scratching. Go ask a pharmacist, you can get lucky and find someone who really knows skin. I use a Dermol face wash which works well for my skin, that and a good moisturiser might help. Might need a steroid.

Have you been bitten?

PinkFootstool · 22/05/2023 13:16

Changes to your regular washing powder? When Fairy changed the damn scent in their pods my legs were shredded in a week between contact with trousers, bedding and blankets. I had no idea until I saw a thread on here asking about it.... I found a tiny "new fragrance!" sign on the box. FFS.

Any jewellery you might wear - give it a good clean.

You could ask a pharmacist about trying hydrocortisone cream or antihistamine cream to put on the affected area.

Tried Anthisan cream?

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 22/05/2023 13:26

Eurax cream is an anti itch cream, maybe you could try that? Or as someone else suggested, a hydrocortisone cream. Anthisan cream is for insect bites, nettle rash, etc, and can be bought over the counter. Might help until you find out what's going on.

Agree with the previous poster who suggested fexofenadine, that's a good antihistamine for itching.

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 22/05/2023 13:26

I would use Eurax cream; asking the pharmacist for advice is a good idea.

Could be a vitamin deficiency - I developed pellagra while breastfeeding and that's how it happened. Severe itching/burning but no rash visible. Then a few days later I would start getting red/blistery spots in those areas.

Have your vitamin levels checked - specifically your iron, zinc, and b vitamins. Best of luck!

How old are you, I had awful itching with no other symptoms or anything visible, at the front of my neck in early peri menopause. It seems to have settled now.

My my investigations it seems to be fairly common

TheWayTheLightFalls · 03/07/2023 07:31

Hydrocortisone cream? If it was the back of your neck/hairline I'd say to try a nit shampoo and comb.

Lindy2 · 03/07/2023 07:49

Eurax works well to stop itchiness. I'd put lots of that on it.

lljkk · 03/07/2023 07:51

another vote for Eurax, I had a random itch no neck the other day. I always suppose insect bites.

veryfluffyfluff · 03/07/2023 07:52

Do you wear perfume?
