Was out in the garden with ddogs, just popping the washing line up and look down and saw the below. I’m not going to lie I was scared, no idea what is it. It’s about 4cms long and around the same across.

Any ideas that make staying in my home a possibility or do I just need to move away, very very far away. I’m in the North of England if that helps. I’m thinking maybe the outer Hebrides are my only option?

I thought a cock chafer was a medieval torture instrument…😁

professionalnomad · 22/05/2023 13:47

cockchafer? I would love to know how it got its name!

It isn't an automatic MN thing - the OP will have had to tag the image herself as sensitive content!

Ah well I never knew that! Every day's a school day.

In fairness, it does look like the bugs are shagging, so perhaps viewer discretion is advised...!

Absolutely adore these bugs. Don't get them in your hair though! Very difficult to get out.

I wasn’t sure if people would want to see the pics or not, but as I only managed to tag one of the images as sensitive, it would seem that my skills are clearly lacking

I’m afraid it’s just one bug on its own

Just you wait until the little fuckers start flying. Nothing worse than being hit in the face by a may bug.

Being hit in the face with a giant cockroach?
