Size 11 high instep shoes for my manchild

Returning box number 347 today and don’t know where to go next.
School shoes that don’t look like ballroom dancing shoes (or Italian stallion style) are proving nigh on impossible. Any recommendations please.

Would a 'traditional' shoe style be better? My dh is a size 12/13 and fashion shoes just don't give support www.marksandspencer.com/leather-gibson-polished-derby-shoes/p/clp60461368?color=BLACK#intid=pid_pg1pip40g2r5c2

You need arch support inserts.
They sell them in places like deichmans and allow you to try them in the shoes before you buy.
Then you can buy any shoes

I agree with PP - just get a pair of arch-support insoles and then he can can wear whatever shoe he wants.

Thanks for replies. I thought the instep was the top bit of the foot so sorry if I’m not understanding how inserts would help. I thought they would be for arches. He’s got a high top bit.
would DMs be any good?

Instep is indeed top of the foot.

I have this issue, not much help as I only take a size 3 🤣

steppemum · 22/05/2023 12:22

OK, sorry so the issue is that his foot is effectively too high and the laces etc don't sit comfortably over the top?

My manchild wears New Balance Men's 624v5 Sneakers for school (He needs wide fit but also has high insteps) Worth a try?

OneTC · 22/05/2023 12:31

ECCO do lots of different shapes and fits

mistlethrush · 22/05/2023 12:34

DS has high arches and, combined with wide feet, finds most shoes problematical. He also has size 14 - 15 feet which also narrows the options. He now has DMs - he has a pair of normal shoes for school, but he really like the standard boots for much of the time. You'd be able to try on 11s in store which would be worth doing prior to buying.

fizzyfood · 22/05/2023 12:36

High instep needs deep shoes. Look at shoe from side angle and that bit at the front needs to be deep. Dr Martens are deep.

Thanks for the help it’s really useful. I’ve ordered one of everything similar from M&S and some DMs. Appreciate the replies.
