Would you ever return an open packet of biscuits if not entirely satisfied?

Dd put a packet of coconut macaroons in the trolley yesterday, I grabbed them on the way to work and they have a vomit flavoured aftertaste. Like off milk. Does anyone ever return stuff like this to stores? It does say return if not satisfied but surely no one ever does and they carry on selling vomit flavoured macaroons to the unsuspecting public forever more.

YABU - return the vomit flavoured monstrosities maybe it’s a bad batch and they will pull them

YANBU- It’s less than a quid bin and move on/ they always taste like that you philistine, joys of being gf!

🙄

I returned an empty bottle of drain cleaner to Morrisons once because it didn't get rid of the blockage.

If you can be bothered, no problem returning them imo.

MadEyeMoodysEye · 20/05/2023 10:26

That's grim! As you day, if you don't tell them they will potentially continue selling what could be a dodgy batch. Get the refund.

gooseduckchicken · 20/05/2023 10:42

Wouldn't that be more of an issue for the manufacturer rather than the supermarket? Presumably they're in date so the supermarket didn't sell them in error.

Call the customer service number on the packet.

My mum once returned the empty box of a deep filled of a steak pie as it had not been deep filled. They refunded her. I was 😳 now I fear I am turning into my mother.

No customer number on the packet, they are made for Aldi it says to return to store if unsatisfied. Dated for Aug 23 so in date.

I bought a box of cereal from Asda and when I got it out to use it had been opened inside and the outer flap was sort of tucked in which I did not notice when I bought it.
I took it back and they reimbursed me without any problem. Otherwise it would have gone in the bin I am sorry to say.

Your contract is with the supplier not the manufacturer

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 20/05/2023 11:22

Probably only if it had weevils.

Crabwoman · 20/05/2023 11:29

I wouldn't be bothered about returning it for a refund if it's a grocery item. If you think it's worth flagging to their attention I might email or DM their socials.

Do that then

Iwrotethissong · 20/05/2023 11:33

My time is worth more than the value of the item so no. I'd probably ping them though so they can quality check / take the items off the shelf.

CatsOnTheChair · 20/05/2023 11:44

Idopped Burton's a message when our Jammy dodgers had two tops, so very little jam in them. Got a load of vouchers for writing an email and attaching a photo.

TomatoSandwiches · 20/05/2023 11:47

I've returned a 6 pack, well 5.5 pack of cherry bakewell from the Co-op before, they had an awful chemical taste.
The shop is on the school run so no hardship, they gave me a refund and took the rest off the shelves, didn't hear anything else after that.

Clementineorsatsuma · 20/05/2023 11:55

Aldi will refund without quibble. Just take them back and tell them.

SunflowerLovers · 20/05/2023 11:56

I’d bin them but there is a high percentage of people who would be personally offended to receive a biscuit which isn’t to their own personal taste and return them.

BonnieGlasses · 20/05/2023 12:02

I opened the thread thinking, well I can't imagine a situation in which I would be unsatisfied with biscuits. But a vomity aftertaste is not good.
I'd just chuck them in the food waste and not buy them again though.

Ladykryptonite · 20/05/2023 12:02

Time is money, the amount of time it takes to do something like that just isn't worth it, in my humble opinion

Badbudgeter · 20/05/2023 12:12

Found a complaints form online, slow work day today, filled it out so I feel I’ve done my part to protect people from vomit flavour macaroons.

Not bothered about the refund. I am gutted about not having anything nice to nibble on. 10 hour shift today, no where to buy anything and I brought a really boring salad for lunch. Am going to check the car for abandoned snacks shortly.

If these macaroons cost less than a pound, then they were never going to be that good to start with, so I suspect they’re meant to taste like that!

Where are they from?

They are from Aldi, Dd said they were 85p I didn’t check. Aldi version of Mrs crimbles which I would say are lovely, not the least bit vomity tasting and are currently a quid at Asda so price wise it’s sounds about right.

These are a gf alternative to a cheap biscuit not the tiny, expensive, delicious French macaroons.
