Fuck off, I hate you and I will disconnect so it makes no difference. God awful invention.

Who the fuck is throwing the lids away separately anyway??? The mind boggles

When we first got recycling bag it specifically said not to put milt bottle lids in the recycling, only be bottles. I throw lids in the bin out on habit. I didn't know the rules had changed.

HappyKoala56 · 19/05/2023 20:56

I like them! I drive a lot for work and I have dropped the lid more than once while driving, pleased I don't have that problem now.

transformandriseup · 19/05/2023 22:15

I hate this too. This week we ran out of Coke and needed to buy it from the corner shop, I was pleased to see it didn't have the attached cap.

Simonjt · 19/05/2023 22:20

One thing we have found is that you can’t open them with an opening aide, so lots of people, my husband included can no longer access them.

Magicmagician · 19/05/2023 22:23

I just thought I was opening them wrong lately, this thread has solved a mystery 😂

mynameiscalypso · 19/05/2023 22:25

I admit that it also took me a while to realise it wasn't just me opening bottles badly. But doesn't everyone just yank them off or get some scissors and cut them anyway? You can't swig from a bottle (v unladylike of course) with the bloody cap up your nose.

I don’t recycle anything anyway so it’s not much of a change tbh 🤷‍♀️

Why don’t you recycle anything?

MuffinToSeeHere · 19/05/2023 22:27

I'm so pleased it's not just me who still breaks them off. The bottle tops don't screw back on properly unless you break them off meaning the drink goes flat quicker.

It seems like a daft decision when if you don't snap them off it jabs you in the factory and stops you being able to use the product properly.

MuffinToSeeHere · 19/05/2023 22:28

The face not the factory (oh for an edit button)

It’s just easier to shove it all in one bin. I don’t have the time or the inclination to sort it all out.

Ladykryptonite · 19/05/2023 22:30

Is this coke or something similar? Just stop drinking the shit

It's on coke, sprite, Dr pepper and Fanta that I've seen and I don't want to stop drinking it because I'm an adult and I have the ability to make my own choices.

You sound like someone who needs to keep their opinions to themselves, if you don't drink that 'shit' why the need to comment.

Ghastisflabbered · 19/05/2023 23:07

It’s all pointless greenwashing.

They would have been better investing money in an education campaign than adding additional plastic to “force” you to recycle the lid.

I would imagine the net impact actually results in more plastic being used than is recycled as so many people (as this thread has shown) just snap the bloody lid off anyway.

Underminer · 19/05/2023 23:19

I’ve had a long day, and I read the first post and wondered if this was a new scheme to make neighbours in semi-detached or terraced houses share recycling bins! They are always pissing about with bin systems and it wouldn’t surprise me.

Yes to the hating the wanky lids.
