Safe to plan summer birthday picnic?

I was planning a birthday picnic at a park by our house at the end of July but my cousin has said I should book a location in case of bad weather. Surely end of July is safe? Would rather avoid the expense of hiring a room unnecessarily and house is too small

Go for it but maybe think about contingency plans!

It depends how much of a disaster it is if you have to home/ reschedule / take everyone to a pub. It should be ok but obviously isn’t risk free.

My daughters birthday is the end of July, she's 10 and it's rained on half of her birthdays so far. You could always wait until closer to the time to make a plan?

My birthday is end of July. Unfortunately there is never a safe bet with weather.

You can get gazebos quite cheaply (I think ours was £25 a few years ago). You could even get one and take it back if it didn't end up being used...

Have you not lived in England long? Seriously you know what the weather can be like. Hmm

I have spent the past few years on the other side of the world which might be why I've forgotten! 😂
