Recurrent severe lower abdominal and back pain (bladder issues)

Hi, I posted yesterday in general health but no one replied so I'm posting here for traffic.
So I've had a long history of bladder problems (urgency, incontinence etc). These were not dealt with due to my home life and it's taken me a long time to move past the shame towards myself.
I'm 23 now and the above issues are still ongoing. But for the last 10 years or so I've had frequent flare ups of UTI type symptoms back pain, lower abdominal pain etc.
I'm having a flare at the moment and have had to call out of hours and was prescribed co codamol. The pain is so bad, I have terrible pressure in my lower back, aches in abdomen and around my sides. It is very painful in my bladder area, especially when I try to pee and it's taking a long time to initiate a flow. Just wondering if anyone has any insight

I'm just quite worried about my current presentation and I was actually considering going to A&E tonight as the pain is that bad.

Before you call 111. Check your oxygen levels. What is your temperature?

Cherryblossom99 · 19/05/2023 02:52

Oxygen and pulse are normal, oxygen is 100 and pulse in the 80's

I had this after a kidney infection and it still flares up, especially if I am dehydrated. I do wonder if it's linked to endometriosis which I also have. If your pain is recurrent, is this something worth investigating if any other symptoms fit? I hope you feel better soon. Phone 111 again if you're in a lot of pain.

Thanks, I have wondered about endometriosis tbh as a lot of symptoms fit. I'm going to keep pushing for further investigations.

You could also look into interstitial cystitis - your symptoms sound very familiar! It's tricky to diagnose, but there are medications that will help.
