If someone told their dog to bite you

What would you think. This happened to me last year, and I wasn't sure if it was a very bad joke, or a threat.

It unnerved me.

I was sitting on the couch in my uncle's house . His dog was there.

My uncle glared at me and turned to the dog . He said to the dog several times "go and bite Anne. Bite Anne" (my name)

Me and my uncle are not close. I would describe us at best as very distant. We had in fact met up at that time because we had to sort out a family matter.

I just feel really weird about it. I don't know if it was a very bad joke. Or at the other end i feel like was he inciting the dog to violence?

That remark has stuck with me .

How would you take it?

I would take it to mean he didn't like me too much. It was a bad joke, but ... a joke that was probably half a wish from him.

IMO!

The dog presumably didn’t bite you so, as it isn’t trained to attack, I’d think it was a stupid/awkward thing he did. Maybe he thought it would break the ice or something?

I would think the person saying that was very odd and I would not visit again.

PimpMyFridge · 13/05/2023 22:53

A nasty comment at best thinly disguised as a joke.
I would say he doesn't like you and if I was you I'd keep my distance as he sounds like a knob.

I wouldn't go back there again.

Really weird.
