Do you feel worse when you first start exercising?

Im feeling a bit frumpy and just not fit so this morning because it was sunny I was inspired to re start exercise! I say restart, I haven’t exercised in over a year. I walk as much as possible but I mean to a home work out or run etc. I thought I’d eased myself into it this morning with a home work out but I’ve not felt great since , but nauseous , think I over did it. Does anyone else feel worse when they first start exercise?

I think this is normal - but please don’t let it put you off continuing with it!

I think it’s happened before when I’ve first started. After a while to people notice lots of benefits from exercising?

I went to the gym for the first time yesterday after a 2 year COVID/pregnancy absence. Today everything hurts

I never enjoy exercise and it more than often makes me feel nauseous. But I know it's good for me so I just keep going

I used to go to the gym and one of the reasons I got put off it was coz afterwards I'd get a horrible agonising headache that would stay with me for the rest of the day! I drank a lot of water while I worked out too. I don't know if that goes as you get fitter.

Definitely! Apart from the physical benefits (I got a flat stomach! And could stand up from crouching without using my arms or making weird groany noises! And lost about 2 stone! - that last one was with dieting too, but the exercise definitely helped), it was so good for my mental health. Being outside for a run or focusing solely on my HIIT meant I wasn’t stressing about work or family.

I’ve had an injury since February and haven’t been able to do any exercise other than walking and gentle Pilates, and I miss it so much.
