Another car parking one but one is abandoned

Wrote a huge thread trying to explain the situation but it got to long and complicated, it basically boils down to this.

Car on the left is parked outside their garage. Car in the middle is parked outside their garage. Both are in a communal spot but, it is mutually agreed that owners of the cars park outside their own garage.

Car on the right is an abandoned car and is owned buy the owner of the car the left. The abandoned car is also in a communal spot.

Communal means shared, no? Surely beneficial to all.

Is it unreasonable of car owner on the left?

NB:- although over grown the greenery on the far right is the land of the car in the middle and will be flatten and veg patch/flowers etc planted soon.

You’re being petty. It’s an ugly area for parking and it’s a car that’s being parked. What a hill to die on.

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 24/03/2024 14:48

@Flatleak ooh I see yes the front passenger wheel is. That might be something we can work with 👍🏻

If the wheel is on your land you can have it towed. If the council won’t do it, you can have it done privately. Then put a fence up and you’ll have quite a nice view 😊

If you don’t want the expense or hassle of getting it towed then just sacrifice those few inches of land, and have the fence erected right up to the edge of the car. It’s not like they will complain if it gets scratched.

missmollygreen · 24/03/2024 14:53

Small claims court??!
What for? All they would have to do is move the car a few centimetres and they would be off your land. But that is not actually the problem, is it?

I do feel for you. This is why I would never buy somewhere with communal parking. You always get someone who takes the piss.
If it has been there for a year, then they are not going to move it. It is communal land so anyone can park there. Sorry

Thanks @OwlCityisthemostunderrated

@missmollygreen luckily we're only renting while we save up to buy (this is going to take a while though).

No that's not the main problem by far. Shame isn't that people are so inconsiderate. She has tons of land behind the garage and never uses it. She could put her car there but didn't and won't.

@Mummame2222 charming. Just trying to make it a safe enjoyable place for my family to live and DC to play. I'm not sure you would like to stare at this heap of junk everyday.

lol it’s an extra car.

@19lottie82 pretty sure animals are getting in foxes, cats etc and maybe even rats 🤢 council need proof of this though.

Foxes and rats aren’t going to be interested in a rusty car.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 24/03/2024 15:18

Can you afford something like this? It's not far off the time Aldi and B&M start stocking them.

ThisAngelWearsPrada · 24/03/2024 15:19

You’re doing all this over a wheel when you’re only a tenant?

Stanislas · 24/03/2024 15:24

Clematis Montana in a nearby pot or mile a minute vine.

Nchanged89 · 24/03/2024 15:31

I'd let your landlord worry about it.

Mummame2222 · 24/03/2024 15:08

lol it’s an extra car.

Not even that - it’s a wheel!

hedgehoglurker · 24/03/2024 15:50

Yes, I agree with PP that is an issue to take up with your landlord. In the meantime, I'd not spend money on it and increase your savings instead.

Theunamedcat · 24/03/2024 15:58

What proof do the council need that animals are getting in? Because mango and pineapple squash smells like wild animals especially if its splashed into car upholstery

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 24/03/2024 18:27

@OutOfTheHouse - funny ones round here seem interested 🤷‍♀️

@PurpleSparkledPixie - thank you so much we've been researching something like this. Just trying to get something that isn't too expensive but tall and wide enough.

@Stanislas - thank you great idea. Definitely need it to grow fast 👍🏻

@ThisAngelWearsPrada - no this is definitely not just over a wheel

@Nchanged89 - yeah probably just trying not to bother them too much but think it's reached crunch point.

@hedgehoglurker - yeap I think you're right. We will create a better view as cheap as possible and save.

@Theunamedcat - thank you 🙏🏼

@ForTheLoveOfGrace Ah, you have a point, in that case. That land is for the use of everyone, and they've taken it over for themselves, which isn't at all fair. I hope you can find a solution, OP.

It's OK, all the cats living in it will keep the rats away

AnnotherReader · 24/03/2024 18:40

DrJoanAllenby · 24/03/2024 14:39

Why don't you grow ivy or other quick growing vines over it and make it a feature?

This is what I was thinking as I was reading your posts. Plant some Ivy or Russian Vine next to one of the wheels and it will soon be screened.
It will be a garden feature instead of an eyesore 😁

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 24/03/2024 18:43

@Time40 thanks. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@AnnotherReader love the idea of Russian vine 👍🏻

Saschka · 24/03/2024 18:58

OP, I could see your point if you owned the property, but you are renting it. The car has been there since you moved in, it has been there for more than a year afterwards despite you calling the council. It isn’t going anywhere.

Talk to your landlord, but if you want an attractive and child-friendly garden, just find another flat to rent that better fits your needs.

ForTheLoveOfGrace · 24/03/2024 22:08

@Saschka not sure why me owning it would make a difference, if we are here long term which we are (arranged with Landlord) I still think I have the right to ask if anyone else has had this problem and if they got some resolution.

Yes, we moved in knowing it was there just thought I'd see if we could do anything about it.

I love the way you say 'just move' like it's that easy. We're in a situation we never thought we would be in and are lucky to be in a secure home. I'd just like to make it a better place for everyone including DC without a clapped out old rust bucket in our faces which is on communal land. It's not a lot to ask for.

Thank you to those who have been understanding about our situation and those who have given helpful advice.

theeyeofdoe · 24/03/2024 22:25

Wait til they're away. Get down the window and move it to behind the other car. Put some massive rocks there.
