To really regret getting the cat?

I’m not the source of all evil I’ll doubtless be dubbed as here, but I really can’t STAND the cat.

He is obsessed with food. Has had five pouches already today but is under my feet constantly demanding more. It’s like he’s insatiable.

I’ve put him out - I have to for my own sanity when he’s like this. But it means we can’t have doors or windows open.

He is fine health wise, not thyroid or anything. It’s just sodding relentless and it’s making me SO frustrated that I can’t relax in my own home, every time I move he goes thundering through to the kitchen!

Some pouches have hardly anything in them. I thought 4 a day was the recommended amount for adult cats. Tiny kittens can get through even more.

An active cat with no dry food could easily scoff down 5 pouches. Mine would, with dry food on top, but only the most expensive pouches. Hmm

I tried leaving dry food down, as some have suggested and my cat got fat. I think the thing to do is feed Cat of Regret twice a day until he learns those are his only meal times. This could be a long time, and personally I'd be too weak to persevere.

Worms?

Oh just seen he's wormed.

Is he a former stray? He may forever be obsessed with food if he used to be starving I'm afraid.

@ChristmasFluff I'm not bloody starving my cat, nor am I competitively underfeeding him. And, 'fluffy prick' is a term of endearment for a feline I love more than anything in the world, apart from my DC.

The dry food he has is of high quality from an independent supplier, as his wet food. And, by 'some' I meant a sufficient amount for his size, weight and lifestyle.

My experience with cats, and I've had a few over the years, is that they all have different eating requirements. Some are pickers, some wolf it all down in one go - as an owner, you can't change this.
However, all cats like a routine, they are creatures of habit.
What works for me and the cats is they get fed twice a day - first thing in the morning and again in early evening. Wet food in one bowl (1-2 pouches depending on size of cats), dry food/kibble in a separate bowl and access to a water fountain - an additional treat or two goes down well too in the evening 😊. However tempting it is, don't give extra meals in between the two sittings.
I truly believe that routine is key here and will take time to establish, but it's worth a try.😀

my kids love McDonald’s but I wouldn’t feed it to them everyday. You’re lucky you don’t have issues at the moment.

Cats can learn a routine quite well. My cats know they get food at 8.30 and 17.30, and on queue daily they show up for that food and meow if its even a few minutes later, they always have biscuits down too (which they will turn their nose up at and prefer the wetfood, but will they so eat them too), but set wet food times. They know, just as they always appear at 3.20 when my teenage kids who are obsessed with them come home.

Just stick with set times, dont demand feed, put them by biscuits when they meow between. Cats also prefer running water, so a fountain water bowl between too can help. But you have to be strict and stick to a routine and they will learn.

The thing with Whiskas is it's like McDonalds for cats. People might feed their DC nothing but McDonalds and say their child is perfectly fine and healthy, but it's not an ideal diet.
