To feel so disappointed in clothes shopping now compared to what it used to be like?

AIBU to think that there used to be far more choice and just more appealing clothes than there is now? Just everything, the fabrics, not something I pay much attention to normally, but now things just seem so thin and cheap looking. The colours, styles, choice, everything. I can remember going to the shops and really struggling to choose between so many lovely things. Now it's hard to find things I like at all.

I love good fabrics as much as anyone but I think we are too quick to dismiss cheaper fabric as crap quality. I have faux leather jeans, skirt etc that I live in, in Autumn and Winter and they still look great years later. On the other hand I can't stand anything linen, it looks so scruffy and creased especially trousers and skirts as soon as you sit down. I find I need the natural fabric on my top half anyway.
I can't believe that people can't find natural fibers though.
I went shopping with dc at the weekend and we went in H&M, Mango, Zara, River Island,
New Look, a couple of boutiques etc and there were lots of cotton, denim, linen, leather, even cashmere etc absolutely everywhere and I thought reasonably priced. I was quite surprised actually.
There's still a ton of shit that I struggle to imagine anyone buying but maybe the tide is turning.

@Marchintospring is there an actual reason why you can’t shop online - where you’ll have infinite variety and choice?

But Infinite choice is only based whatever you’ve typed in. A shop gives you other ideas about clothes.
The internet is brilliant for tracking down clothes you know you like but hit or miss otherwise.

I don’t ‘type in’ any particular variety of clothes. Ever! How would that even work? Do you mean a random Google search? Eeeew … Grin

I have a number (around fifty) of online shops that are currently brilliant saved on my Home Screen, and I browse through them regularly - looking at everything, or everything new if they have a huge amount of stock. If I fall in love with something I try to assess whether I need to buy at once or can think for longer and maybe see if the price reduces. (Once a place stops being brilliant I erase it.) So I’m constantly being shown new ideas.
