@GasPanic wherever did you get the idea that all businesses are incorporated? Do you think your plumber should not be able to offset the cost of his van? What about his work mobile phone? Or drill?

Landlords should not be treated differently than any other business. All other businesses can offset their third party arms length borrowing costs
Landlording is classed as an investment activity, if you buy stocks and shares, for instance, and you borrow money in order to purchase them you cannot offset the cost of borrowing against your profits. The same applies to landlords.
