I'm going through it at the moment, a manager from hell. I'm miserable at home & my child asked me tonight why I'm always cross when I get home from work.
I've gone to upper management with my problems in the past, it was supposed to have been dealt with but he's back to his old ways.

I just want to know if other people have this problem or have ever had a manager that made their life hell?

I'm so close to bursting into flames.

My boss is a lovely lady, pleasant and chatty

Absolutely useless at her job though 🤦‍♀️

Had one awful one, it's only looking back I wonder how I stuck it so long. Life is too short - go back to senior management and let them know he's being a dick again. Can you get an internal transfer? Otherwise move - life is so much better with a decent boss. Not being a dick is my mantra as a manager.

I’ve worked for a couple of awful bosses, I like my current one. She’s very good at her job, she’s blunt in a really helpful way and she’s flexible once you’ve proved yourself. She can be annoying sometimes but in very small ways.

Doesn't help you, but mine is absolutely lovely.
Helpful, thoughtful, funny / pleasant to be around. Considerate, asks for and respects my (and colleagues) opinions and ideas. A good listener. Gives all of us the space and autonomy to do our jobs. Respects that we are experienced individuals and all work in slightly different ways and that that is okay.

My current boss is lovely, supportive and just all round great.

I have had nightmare bosses though so I feel your pain sadly. The only solution I ever found was to get another job.

Current boss is lovely.

Contrasted with the most horrid person ever. Micro managed by a women who had absolutely no experience in the field I had 20+ yrs experience in!

I resigned because my brother has a medical condition and I was potentially going to be a live liver donor to help him survive. Despite being aware of this, my boss just got worse! Put cameras in the office to watch and listen to me, avoided me, wouldn't pay my final salary and SO much more!

My brother survived and is doing well thankfully.

I’ve worked with my current manager for over 30 years. We started on the same grade & progressed at the same rate until about 15 years ago. To begin with I thought his advancement after that was because it was a male dominated team, (It probably was) but having worked under him for 2 years I can see why he is where he is. He’ll retire soon but there’s no way I’d want his job. He’s annoying in small ways but overall he’s great.

Thankfully my boss is awesome. He’s chatty, funny, hands on and very commercial. More like a mentor than boss if that makes sense.

His predecessor was dreadful!! Fluffy, indiscreet, distracted, overcommitted, delegate everything and lacked substance!! Thankfully she got the boot.
