Is it wasteful to go out for dinner?

We’ve bought meals in for the week but it’s only store cupboard stuff that will keep, ie ingredients for curry, shepherds pie and chilli. It will keep for later meals nothings going off. Neither me nor DH can be bothered to cook after work and I’ve been craving a wagamamas all day. We won’t be able to do this forever as our child-free days are numbered but at the same time I think it’s dangerous to get used to just going out for food at the drop of a hat. What do you think, AIBU to go out

My sons love Wagamamas. Great kids menu however my oldest son (7) loves the adult calamari.
We are there at least every six weeks (strangers often comment positively on their behaviour so I can testify that I'm not ruining the atmosphere for all the other guests 😅) so it may not be the complete end of dining out for you permanently!
Absolutely enjoy it...I fancy a firecracker chicken now!

But isn’t it nice to know someones evening plans?
Now, we know someone somewhere is having a wagamama for dinner and hopefully be back to tell us what they had…

Had a katsu curry. Basic as anything! And gyozas with juice. It was not as great as we hoped unfortunately and one of the worst we’d had. Typical! Was like I knew not to go

It’s never a water of money imo. We eat out a lot (well, about twice a week); one of life’s pleasures imo.

*waste

I have been through this.

We went through a period of about £100 a week on takeaways/eating out just because we were too lazy/tired to cook, we were shattered. That’s over £5k a year.

A few years ago I had a rejig and we probably spend about £100 a month on takeaways eating out now (excluding socialising and special occasions).

Saving about £4K a year and appreciating them more.

If you’re asking on a forum then I’m guessing that you probably over spend on eating out or can’t afford to? Even if you can, do you consider it wasteful? Would rather spend the money else where?

I think it’s good to be mindful about spending money and not give in to every craving but also, treats don’t hurt either!

You can still go out for dinner with kids.
