To ask for vaccine reassurance

My 15 month old is overdue for his one year immunisations and I’m feeling stressed about it. I want him to get them asap (postponed due to illness - his and the nurse’s) because I don’t want him to get sick and he’s in daycare, but also I have anxiety and there is a tiny part of me that worries about autism.

To be clear, I know the MMR stuff has been discredited and the guy struck off. But I have two autistic siblings, one very severely disabled, and there’s a tiny part of me that is fearful. I know it’s in his best interests to have his shots but I wish there was someone who could put my mind at rest. Are there any moms on here who have had a similar experience? I was nervous about the covid jab too but still had two shots of it while pregnant and was fine obviously.

I am not an antivaxxer and do not want to hear from antivaxxers - it’s an anxiety thing and I would just like some kind words to make me feel less worried. Thanks

I just gave my son his mmr booster, which is due at 3.5 years old.
2 weeks later, we've had an email from nursery to warn of a local measles outbreak. I'm so glad we got the booster promptly!

My son has a very severe egg allergy and has to be monitored for an hour after his vaccines in case of anaphylaxis. I wouldn't consider not getting him vaccinated, it's a no brainer for me.

Glad to hear you've got an appointment booked for Monday @24hoursfromTulsamom - please do your best to ignore the people on here claiming that vaccines "injured" their children - they're not very bright and have obviously fallen down a dangerous rabbit-hole, leaving their children (and anyone who encounters them) at higher risk of really serious but preventable illnesses.

I happened to see a documentary about Andrew Wakefield (and various other dangerous anti-vax loons) last week - you might find it interesting: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-anti-vax-conspiracy It's clear that Wakefield was a fraud, and he's not the only scam artist preying on parents and making a lot of money from frankly dangerous 'cures' (like administering bleach to small children with autism, something i would call child abuse)

Who are the people behind the international anti-Covid-vaccine movement and why are they doing it? This journey inside the astonishing world of the anti-vaxxers finds out.

This needs to be investigated

It has been. A study of over half a million children found no link between MMR and a diagnosis of autism - in fact, it found that children who have received the MMR vaccine are actually 7% less likely to be diagnosed with autism.

You dragged up a thread from almost a year ago to spout MMR nonsense. Well done.
