I have just (within the last 30 minutes) spilled a whole cup of boiling hot lemon tea over my foot.

I had a sock on. DH got it off and my foot in a bowl of cold water whilst I swore.

I had it in the bowl for 20 mins.

Foot is lobster red and very very sore.

No blister though. What are the chances of a blister and/or swelling now? I'm back at work tomorrow and I'm worried I won't be able to get shoes on!

Needs to be under running water not in a bowl of water. Put it under the shower now, cool water not cold. Probably won’t swell, might have a blister on the top of your foot. I would let the air get to it overnight then put a clean sock on tomorrow with some germoline/savlon

Cool running water, wrap in clingfilm, take pain killers - consider seeing GP/|Minor injuries tomorrow if it's no better

I feel for you OP! I once tipped a pan of boiling spaghetti over my hand by accident and the spaghetti stuck to my hand which made it 10x worse!

I had to have burn cream and dressings from the dr as the next day, my hand was swollen and weeping.

If it was a whole cup of boiling water then chances are that it's going to blister, I don't envy you putting shoes on over it so I would see how you are in the morning but you might need to get it checked/ring in to work!

nhs says A&E for anything on the feet

running water is best, but if you can’t get to running water then a bowl is better than nothing

lay on clingfilm, don’t wrap (because the area may swell up)

Burns and scalds

Burns and scalds are damage to the skin caused by heat. Both are treated in the same way.

Under running water now. The bowl was a split second decision while I cried and swore. It was the whole cup. I don't even know how it happened. I was walking back into the living room with it, got to the door and the next minutes it's all over my bloody foot. I didn't even drop the cup!!

Ouch. I do hope it’s better soon it sounds really sore

I did similar last year OP, I’d had a baby three days before and dropped a thermos on my foot from warming milk. It did blister and swell a little, we actually went to the zoo about 14 hours after it happened too 🤣 I had to wear Uggs and it was a little tender for a few days but was ok.

Alittlestar · 10/05/2023 10:45

Ouch OP, that sounds painful. How's the foot today, hope it's not too bad.

JauntyJinty · 10/05/2023 10:47

My friend had similar, called 111 and they sent an ambulance.

If I were you I'd do running water and call 111

I would say straight to A&E but I'd be worried about it not being in water for the time to get there

JauntyJinty · 10/05/2023 10:48

Doh, just saw this was from last night - sorry!

I hope it's recovering well however you dealt with it OP

deflatedbirthday · 10/05/2023 21:22

By some grace of god or miracle there is not a mark on my foot!
