Royal Mail Recorded Delivery is a WASTE OF TIME

I sent a recorded delivery, last monday, of a letter and two chqs. Client is denying receipt. I go on line, every day. Nothing. Website is down all weekend. no epod signature details.
So i don't know WHO actually signed for the chqs.
I phone royal mail. Thay say it was delivered the next dy, but can tell me nothing more. They say it has not been 5 working days , so they can do nothing, until that timeframe is up. They also say, to manually start a trace on this, takes a minimum of 5 days. No maximum

It is USELESS
I feel so powerless.

I know, its the big bosses that sit on their arses all day in their big offices that have made it crap. I hate going to work now and collections aren't half as crap as deliveries.

clumsymum · 18/02/2008 12:12

We have a postie who doesn't ring the bell if he has a package to deliver, just shoves a card thru and takes it back to post office for me to collect. Which is a pain cos I'm disabled and it's impossible to park near the collection office, even with my blue badge.

It then takes them at least 2 days to redeliver, and he has been know to just repeat the process.

And I only realised last week that 1st class post now only offers 2 day delivery, not next day. So we pay more, but get increasingly poor service.

I've heard storys like that before. I don't understand posties who do that cos its more hassle to carry the items back than it is to deliver them

mumdebump · 18/02/2008 12:22

You should be able to put the ref no of the recorded item in the Royal Mail website and then click on a link to see the signature. I did this with a parcel I sent recently but the biff who signed for it had done so vertically across the box so the bit scanned in by the PO only showed a fragment of signature. Honestly, what's the point?

Phoenix · 18/02/2008 12:24

It takes longer (if at all) for the recorded signatures to come online. Because they aren't tracked.

fizzbuzz · 18/02/2008 13:50

Tracking doesn't work anyway. Dp tried to track a parcel. It repeatedly said it was in a certain PO. It wasn't and never had been.

He received his "tracked" parcel 14 days late. PO will only start investigations after 14 days.........

It is probably still being tracked in that mysterious PO

Oblomov · 18/02/2008 14:05

I know that the tracking thing is useless. None the less, I have just sent off, two more chqs. Using special @ a cost of £4.30 I didn't know what else to do.
I despair.
