To find it amusing that Nick Cave was at the coronation?

Sorry, another coronation one. I didn't even watch it, just looked at some of the news coverage.

Anyway, I'd like to imagine that someone organising it thought "you know what would take this occasion to the next level, the dark sexuality that only Nick Cave would bring" Grin

I know a lot of us MNetters are fans of Nick Cave.

Who doesn't love Nick Cave? I don't think of him as a Republican or even particularly left wing. Not sure he gave much thought to politics back in his Birthday Party days and now, everything I've read by him suggests he has a fairly nuanced position on political issues. It was funny to see him there - i was watching with a friend and we spent some happy time looking at old Birthday Party clips on YouTube.
The real question is not why he went but how he made it onto the list? Is Camilla a Bad Seeds fan, perhaps?

Nick Cave is an Officer of the Order of Australia and part of the official Australian delegation. Full list.
The current Prime Minister is a huge music fan, so probably was keen to have such a legendary artist nearby. Plus no travel costs!
