Does anyone know if when the tooth is showing even a TINY bit that means the main pain is over? Or does it need to be fully grown before the ‘biggest’ pain is over for the baby? Which part is most painful?

teething isnt painful, that is an old wives tale

Generally when my baby was teething (still is at 16 months), the worst part would be the lead up to the point breaking the gum.. so he would be irritable, dribbling, hands in mouth, whingey, crying a lot, waking a lot at night etc for a few days and then BAM a sharp point would appear and then the tooth literally would come down so quickly after that.
Lots of cold things helped, cucumbers/cool teething rings. I would almost always give calpol (and nurofen sometimes) and teething granules or gel when I knew a tooth was on the way.
We are currently cutting molars 😖

Teething is very obviously painful to anyone who has been around a teething baby!

OP, In my experience they’re in pain just before the tooth appears. They’re much happier once it’s through the skin, even a tiny bit.

Agree with pp, the worst is the breakthrough. Molars though hurt again a bit later when the other parts break through, in my experience.

Nursery tells me some babies are not that fussed, but mine have been pretty dramatic about them!

All babies grouped together and told you that did they?

I've had three wisdom teeth come through, as an adult I could apply numbing gel on the gum when the pain crept in or take pain killers when I needed to, I feel so sorry for babies that can only cry and can't tell you how to help, this Nimrod, sorry nimbo, obviously doesn't know what their on about. It may not affect all babies but to alot it does.

My youngest is a teething nightmare until the tooth is fully through (he’s very dramatic and unfortunately a slow teether, won’t take a dummy and likes to chew muslins 🙈)

my eldest you would barely notice and suddenly she would have another tooth

so they are all different is what I’m trying to say just depends on the child
