To my DH, supermarket food

So we’re having a small Coronation tea party. I’ve ordered food to our local supermarket. It’s literally a platter of sandwiches and a salad. DH is out at the minute and he said he’s going to get the beers so I said oh while you’re there can you pick up the food we’ve ordered and a large packet of plain crisps.

He’s called me saying he’ll go out later to get the food and will just pick up the beers.

I’ve said look it’s a 5 min job - I want the food in before 11 so we can enjoy the coronation. He’s just lost it saying he’ll go later (but will still get the beers). But I’m like you’re in the supermarket getting the beer go to customer service and get the food it’s like a sandwich platter and a salad!

the issue is I would go as we planned but it’s a restricted use car park so we can’t re-enter for an hour. The plan was he’d come home from being out and I’d go and get the food.

he can’t cope if his plans go slightly differently

Two minutes drive?!!

What a waste of petrol doing one round trip never mind two.

He was out doing other jobs so it made sense for him to go in on his way back and pick up the sandwiches. Never mind it’s done now, he’s back and happy watching the coronation. Just got me cross.

I love walking and will happily choose to walk short distances rather than use the car where possible, however I'm not sure I would fancy carrying back a load of beers plus a platter of sandwiches.
Sometimes the car makes sense even when the distance is short. I recently worked at a property in my road. It is a 2 minute walk (if that), but I drove on the first and last day because I had ~75kg of bulky tools to take to site/home again. It did feel a bit silly, but was the most sensible option in the circumstances. It would have taken ages to shuttle it back and forth on foot, I would have started the day tired and sweaty, and it was already loaded in the van ready to go from the previous job.

This is pretty much why I'm not married OP. I would literally kill them in cold blood for this shit.

Yet another reason why I'm so glad I'm single !!

He's absolutely ridiculous. Why go into a shop to get one thing, and instead of picking up the other thing, go out separately later?

Have you got any mates who will help you with the paving slabs for the patio you are about to build?😂😂😂
