Duplicate delivery

I ordered a swing and slide set from Outdoor Toys (£650). After waiting weeks for it to arrive and taking two days off for mix ups with the delivery, it came. I didn't open it until we were ready to build it.

Two days later I received a phone call to say the delivery company had another parcel for me, I just assumed the item was coming in two different packages as it is absolutely huge.

They had to leave it in front of my garage on the drive as there was no more space due to the original being delivered.

After checking it I realised it was a duplicate delivery. I rang them straight away and explained. I said I was happy for them to come collect it but I won't be taking another day off work unless they were to reimbursed me it. They said it should be fine to just collect but she would speak to her manager and be in touch that day. I've sent emails stating if it wasn't collected by the 7th I will be disposing if it as it is sat on my drive and has been for two weeks. I live near a main road so anyone could easily pinch it. It's on a pallet so I can't move it and it doesn't fit through the gate, hence why it was left on the drive. I phoned them again 3 days ago and they still aren't communicating with me. It takes 45 minutes just to get through!

AIBU to sell it? I can't just leave it sat on my drive blocking access to my garage. It could attract thiefs. I have also spoke to them on the phone and sent emails but they are just not giving me any straight forward answers.

I've tried to look into what my legal rights are, but it is such a grey area.

Any advice is appreciated x

Sell it. They’ve wasted your time and they won’t bother coming back for it now

I had the exact same thing with a bouncy castle (don’t judge me) 😂

I wouldn’t have sold it, but I did give it to DDs play school.

The company never contacted me again.

Thank you, this is such a good idea! I'll give it till next week then see if there is any local childcare facilities I could donate it too!

It is blocking the access to my garage and taking up space on the drive, It's 3 meters long. My concern is, whether it's pinched, sold or donated, I don't want the company then chasing me for the money for it.

I can't just leave it sat on the drive forever hoping for them to come collect it when they aren't communicating with me.

And of course thieves are a concern, it could attract unwanted attention and just takes one opportunist to see what else they can try and nick.

If you're overly concerned about any backlash email again asking them to collect within 7 days and if they fail to do so you will assume they have gifted it to you at no cost to yourself and can therefore do as you wish with the goods.

Sell or or give it away. If they contact you later, you can say it was stolen. It's their fault they didn't collect it. You've chased them enough already.
