Coronation family brunch

You are either a teenage boy or a 50yo man. You’re not very interested in the Coronation- in fact you’re a bit of a Republican- but you’re going to watch a bit of it to keep your mum/wife company and because you’ve not seen one before so why not?

What do you want for brunch?

A- Various coronation themed foods such as Coronation chicken, that funny quiche, scones and little sandwiches etc plus Coronation edition Colin the caterpillar.

B- Fry up, plus Coronation edition Colin the caterpillar.

It’s B, isn’t it? B by miles.

Crisps, chocolate and wine

Like christmas, just sitting in front of the telly grazing

Quoronation · 05/05/2023 08:02

What does mum/wife want? She's the one who is making it an important occasion so I think she should have a say. Also who is cooking?

Overthebow · 05/05/2023 08:04

Could you do the dry up for brunch, then afternoon tea with the sandwiches, quiche, a cheeseboard and Collin? I would like the food in A but not for brunch.

Hazelnuttella · 05/05/2023 08:07

It depends if my mum/wife is going to spend hours making intricate coronation themed delicacies and then get annoyed because I’ve swallowed them whole without admiring her handiwork 🙃

Hazelnuttella · 05/05/2023 08:08

I’d do whatever you would enjoy eating the most OP (assuming from what you said that you’re making it).

W0tnow · 05/05/2023 08:09

We’re settling in to watch it. It will be a family event, even though we ‘re republicans. We (I) just have a fascination with the whole pomp and ceremony thing.

I’m doing sausage rolls, cucumber finger sandwiches, egg finger sandwiches, and scones with jam and cream. Would have done quiche but kids were dubious.

Tiaras optional but strongly recommend.

To go out and do something less boring instead (why don't you gang?)

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 05/05/2023 08:11

Fry-up all the way.

It's what I'll do for me and DH tomorrow morning, then snacks and beer in the afternoon.

VivaLesTartes · 05/05/2023 08:13

I want to say that sounds like 2 meals and just have both. But A sounds more like picky tea in front of the Tele type deal of that's what they are going for. If you wanted to graze over a few hours.
Not especially "brunchy" though. I don't think you can promise brunch if there is no breakfast food. This would sadden me.

Colin should be there either way for sure.

TriedTurningItOff · 05/05/2023 08:30

B I'm afraid

Whatthediddlyfeck · 05/05/2023 08:33

My dd will be here for brunch tomorrow (I’d actually not made the link about the coronation!), and I’ll just be doing the breakfast type stuff…she’s vege tho so I’m frantically googling!

Rewis · 05/05/2023 09:15

A
I can get a fryup whenever I want but scones, coronation crap etc. Would be more special treat

emmathedilemma · 05/05/2023 09:31

B
coronation chicken and quiche is not brunch food IMO
