Strikes - widening the attainment gap?

I fully support all the strikes, teachers, nurses, civil service etc. They have been undervalued and underpaid for far too long. There's a scary recruitment and retention crisis and our public services are failing. These strikes are bringing attention to this and trying to halt the decline.

My AIBU is about the impact on exams between state and private schools. My kids have missed lots more days of education in their vital exam years compared to their private counterparts. They are already disadvantaged by huge classes sizes, lack of resources, few support staff, lots of supply and cover. Now, they are getting even fewer days of actual education.

I know the exam system can't take this into account, but AIBU for being cross that my hard working kids are being disadvantaged AGAIN, and it'll travel with them as they go through education. IMO we are talking about a non-disrupted run up to exams which just bumps kids over a grade boundary. A set of 6s is so much better than a set of 5s in terms of Uni choices, if 6s are needed for say maths, science and english.

Sadly the government don't care about education so they won't be bothered. I do agree but also don't blame teachers for striking, the general day to day standard in schools is terrible due to staff shortages, funding gaps and school having to perform duties outwith their sphere due to underfunding elsewhere. The gap is already widening and will continue to whether there are strike days or not, its shocking.
