Wannabe influencers make me cringe

Does anyone else notice that people they know in real life are making a real effort to make it online and get free stuff? It makes me cringe so much, some of them have professional jobs as well which makes me feel like it’s so unnecessary.

I know it’s not my business, it’s a free country. But they are obviously putting it out there for everyone to see and I can’t help but feel it’s a bit grabby. Would be interested to see if other people on here have had friends and family do the same thing and how it worked out for them/ did it change your relationship with them. Is this a thing specific to my generation, I’m mid 20s. I know I’ll have comments ripping me for being jealous, but I’m not, none of them have been successful at all and I am embarrassed for them putting in so much effort for no/ little returns.

Some examples:

Cousins new partner has setup a home account, constant posts which are not very subtle basically begging for brand deals. It’s their first property and the project has barely started, it’s not like she has a proven track record of interior design. She is also a midwife and cousin has a decent job as well.

Friends wife, is a wannabe mumflencer with a sustainable angle, she is a brand ambassador for a company.

Former colleague is a wannabe Mrs Hinch with a cleaning page, it hasn’t taken off at all.

Two former colleagues with lifestyle YouTube blogs. Basically begging for free trips/ meals out.

Well, how do you think the Mrs Hinches or whatever get successful? They start off with a handful of followers, put in the effort and hopefully get better at posting engaging or appealing content and build that following up. Not many get that far, but I don't feel contemptuous of anyone for trying. And I mute anyone (mostly MLM school mums) whose posts are irritating so I don't have to see them. Was it Justin Bieber who posted YouTube videos of himself singing in his bedroom aged 13 and got a record deal? I just don't blame anyone for thinking it's worth a go, even if most do fall flat.
