Am I being dramatic or should I see a Dr?

I am very conscious about wasting the NHS time, and on top of that I have a poorly baby who is EBF and going to the out of hours would be really difficult. That said, I am starting to wonder if what I am feeling is normal and I should just wait it out, or something more.
I'll do my best to describe, it will be a poor description so apologies!

I have a viral infection I believe, which I know i can't do anything about. I keep having a strange feeling though on top of the virus, like my heart either adds an extra beat or misses a beat. This then makes my tongue feel tingley and down my arm. In that moment I am also very dizzy.
It happens more when I am standing, but right now I am laying down and it keeps happening. Sometimes every 30 seconds. It's so difficult to do things like hold my son for example because I just feel so dizzy when they happen.
I'm very cold too, but that's likely the virus.
I would really appreciate others experiences and words of advice. I know we have 111, but I can't help but feel like I'm being a burden on the put of hours, and the additional stress it would cause everyone at home.. For me to be then told its just normal.

Ring 111. That sounds unpleasant and distressing. I'm sure they would rather you rang them for help and advice than put up with that.

Heroicallyfound · 01/05/2023 17:07

It’s worth getting checked out, you won’t be wasting 111’s time.

Could it be stress/anxiety? Best to get checked regardless.

Lcb123 · 01/05/2023 17:07

Definitely ring 111, they can advise and go through the key questions

Cakeorchocolate · 01/05/2023 17:09

Maybe it is normal but I don't think it's wasting NHS time to get checked.
(And I'm a former HCP with strong views about wasting NHS time and resources.)

Hope you feel better soon.

If you were my daughter I’d be telling you to phone 111.
The medics can do all sorts of tests on the spot & then take it from there.
It could just be a bit of hidden anxiety, stress or a bit of exhaustion but virus or no virus I’d get yourself checked out.
I hope it’s absolutely nothing but the medics can be very reassuring so just give em a quick call.

Lamelie · 01/05/2023 17:20

Definitely call 111
Are you phone alone?

Lamelie · 01/05/2023 17:20

Home alone that should be.

shysquirrel · 01/05/2023 17:22

I had palpitations for a while and had some investigations which turned out normal. But I clearly remember them saying that if I had other symptoms such as tingling or dizziness then I should get it checked immediately as these can be more serious.

Myfairytalecametrue · 01/05/2023 17:22

Thank you all. I will take your advice and call 111. I don't think it is anxiety, but I must admit it is started to worry me so I guess it could be.
I do appreciate you all taking the time to reply.

At the moment yes (with my children) but my husband is due back shortly.

You will be MORE of a 'burden' (your word - I do not agree with this attitude towards healthcare) if you ignore something rather than get timely advice from a medical expert.

I am glad you are phoning 111.

LBFseBrom · 01/05/2023 17:24

I think you need to see a doctor. Phone your GP surgery and a doctor will do an online consultation with you; you may be asked to go in and see the doctor and you can take your baby with you (I know it's a pain but is doable). Your symptoms may indicate little or nothing but they do have to be checked out, if only to reassure you. Good luck.

LBFseBrom · 01/05/2023 17:25

I meant the doctor will do a telephone consultation with you, not 'online'.

Notimeforaname · 01/05/2023 17:28

Obviously nobody can tell you exactly what it is but what you are describing is 100% what happens to me when I am anxious.
The last time it was happening I was awaiting biopsy results. All turned out to be fine but this exact thing only happens to me when I'm thinking about the things I'm worried about, then it hangs around longer.

JuneOsborne · 01/05/2023 17:33

Could be a number of things, besides the virus, like low calcium. But none of us know, only doctors will.

So, phone 111. You're not wasting their time.

Hope you're on the mend soon.

ExtraOnions · 01/05/2023 17:33

I have an ectopic heartbeat, and it does sound very similar. It gets worse when I’m anxious … oddly enough though, I don’t think I’m anxious, but my heartbeat lets me know I am ! Mine isn’t dangerous, just a weird feeling.
