I have cancer, I can't have children. I see my sister a lot, but I don't want to ask what she wants us to get her kid because she'll just say 'oh I don't mind whatever you think he'll like' Hmm

So no budget, nephew is 2 soon. As a parent what would you love someone to get your kid who loves Thomas the tank engine and (fucking) bing..

Please help me. Im between treatments and my brain isn't working anymore.

Or maybe what wouldnt you want so I don't become that auntie?

Brio train tracks or Duplo; both will last a long time and get lots of use.

I hope you recover soon.

Forgot to say, these are particularly good because even if they are duplicates that just makes a bigger set, and you can keep adding to it if he's keen.

You sound like a lovely aunty OP.

I’d always go for swimming lessons (if you know they want them), annual pass for soft play/zoo/farm/Gymboree; hell, even a voucher for one of those toddler meal subscriptions that deliver. At this age they are still delighted with a balloon so I wouldn’t go down the toy rabbit hole.

I got my 2year old a micro mini scooter. They are expensive but grow with them and very sturdy, not huge so easy to store.

Agree with PPs, a trip to Thomas Land would be great. I took DS1 when he turned 2 as he was Thomas obsessed and he loved it.

My DC was obsessed with Thomas.

If you are up for it, can you take him to stay the weekend at Thomas land? They are only little once.

The other thing he was gifted, (that I was horrified by), but has provided endless hours of fun for everyone, was the step2 Thomas rollercoaster.

OP can I recommend some jumbo chalks? My two (20 months and almost 4) are in the garden, quiet as mice, chalking on the wall.

They're happy, I'm getting to enjoy a hot cup of tea, and it's easy to wash away with no residue, if the rain doesn't get it first.

If she has space and doesn't have one, a play kitchen was an absolute winner for both of mine when they were that age. But it's obviously quite a bulky present to buy someone.

Otherwise I agree that a decent wooden train track will be popular with a train lover.

I love it when people buy books for my kids birthdays. They have got some great ones I'd not have thought about otherwise.
