‘Get a sense of humour’

Aibu to ask if there is ever an actual way to communicate to a bore they aren’t funny?
Typical example just now- man on local selling group just posts so often inane comments. Whenever someone puts an ISO post he’ll put a comment to get it at Argo/ sainsburys etc. I mean it’s a local second hand selling group, but he has the urge to comment the obvious over and over. Or he’ll make a dumb joke about looking at only fans for ideas or a weak dad joke. It’s wearing and irritating to have him bumping random posts or get notifications when him over and over with the same nonsense. There’s groups for nonsense, but on a selling group it’s irritating.
Someone just called him out and he’s all ‘get a sense of humour’.
I guess it triggered me a bit because so many men have done this over the years. Repeated something unfunny, or they’ll be really pushy and make you uncomfortable… but then they jump into the loud ‘get a sense of humour love!’ If you in anyway don’t listen to them. Often to an audience
Whats the comeback???

No comeback necessary really.

If he's bothering you and others this much, have a word with the group admin.

JupiterFortified · 30/04/2023 14:28

Just block him. That way you won’t see any of his posts.

Yes! A much better idea.

AmazonGrime · 30/04/2023 14:31

In this case I blocked.
But it’s just that general approach so many men have. Right down to the slapping women’s bums and shouting ‘get a l sense of humour love’ if they don’t giggle. It’s just so annoying. In this case grim from a younger man too

When I was in FB I was in a group related to a hobby, there was a guy in there that sounded a lot like yours and certain members fell over themselves telling him how hilarious he was.

I ignored it until he made a joke about the rape of a child, closely followed by a racist joke. I told him he was out of order, he told me I didn't have a sense of humour and it was just banter.

Clearly others were pissed off with him and backed me up, he then left the group and proceeded to send me rape and death threats for weeks under different accounts.

I wish I had just blocked him and ignored it, he would never have said anything to a guy.

AmazonGrime · 30/04/2023 14:36

Tbf I searched this guy, not one like or comment on response to pages of these comments. I’m surprised he’s so persistent with no feedback.
Sounds like you had a horrendous experience @HowDoYouDoWhatYouDoToMeIWishIKnew . I think that’s part of the problem, in many cases it’s a front for very disturbing behaviour. The daring ‘say what you want’, and saying awful things
