To consider getting a home help?

We are a family of 3 - me, DH and DS (6). We should be able to keep on top of things at home, but we just can't.

Between the 3 of us, we have a variety of physical and mental health issues and I would classify all of us as disabled. We are also all varieties of autistic / ADHD, though not with the same needs which makes it hard to juggle keeping everyone happy and calm!

I am very taken by the idea of a cleaner / housekeeper who could help with the cleaning, but also maybe do a bit of ironing, washing and meal prep. DH and I both have busy, demanding jobs, working flexibly to support DS who has SEND. We just don't have anything left over for keeping the house organised.

Where would I find someone like this? Most home helps are geared towards helping elderly people, whereas we are (at first glance) capable of looking after ourselves. If DS were a baby then I might look for a mother's help, and housekeeper seems like quite a grand title for what we need / can afford.

I see a lot of posts on local Facebook groups asking for people to recommend a housekeeper etc in their area. Lots of replies normally.

Thanks @VainAbigail Do you think it's a housekeeper that I am looking for? I found someone advertising housekeeping services but she didn't do cleaning, just cooking and admin etc

Have you any idea what the going hourly rate would be? I presume a bit more than for a cleaning-only service

why not put an ad on facebook explaining exactly what kind of help your looking for, without getting hung up about the job title?

You just need to put a post up detailing what you want someone to do for you and if they’re interested, they’ll reply. A lot of the posts I’ve seen also specify how much they’re willing to pay so you can do that also. A saw a post recently where someone was willing to pay £15p/h. You do have make sure that a person has the right insurances though and preferably some experience.
