To ask if anyone has had a mole removed privately?

Don’t think NHS will be interested as it’s a cosmetic issue. It’s on my lower jaw, had it all my life, can’t stop fiddling with it and it gets red and sore. Would be interested to know if anyone has had it done, cost, how it looked afterwards etc.

Watching with interest. I had a mole checked the other day. It's not medically a problem, but it's under my bra strap and I want to get it removed. The nurse suggested I try a product that freezes warts / verrucae / moles at home as she said private clinics charge a fortune. Don't know if that appeals to you

I had one on the side of my face removed about three years ago. Think it cost about £350 with histology as well. Was 100% worth every penny. It drove me mad. I was always catching it with a hairbrush and causing it to bleed. Removal didn’t hurt at all. Teeny tiny scratch and then felt nothing. I can’t even see where it was now, there is literally no scar at all!

I think I would have it checked out first particularly as it gets red and sore.

Yes I had a mole which turned out to be a Seborrheic keratosis removed during a private dermatology consultation last November. I paid £250 for the consult and because it was bothering me, the dermatologist froze it off there and then, it scabbed over and within a couple of weeks it’s as if it was never there. I have a couple of others, but not such prominent places.

Yes. I had a mole on my chin which I wanted removing for cosmetic reasons and one on my neck which was catching on things, rubbing on shirt collars and bleeding due to catching on stuff.

Would have cost £450 for consult then removal of one but an extra £150 for the other but this was several years ago. Worth every penny and they do send off for biopsy to be on the safe side.

I had 3 done - one in particular because it was growing quickly. £600. Two were benign. The quick growing one was precancerous. No scars, touch wood no return.

Genuinely thought you meant a garden mole 🤣

TheWelshposter · 30/04/2023 13:41

I had one removed about 4 years ago, it cost £400. All that remains is a small white circular scar on my cheek. I hardly notice it and anyway it looks far better than what was there before.

Thank you. I think I’ll leave the wart stuff as it is not the same as a mole.

It might be a good idea though I think it is red and sore because I rub it.

Thanks everyone your replies have given me food for thought.

I've had a mole in my shoulder for a few years. Had it checked by Gp 3 years ago who said it was fine and nhs don't remove them anymore. As years have gone on it's become irritated by my bra strap and occasionally bleeds. I paid to see a private dermatologist who said it was basal cell carcinoma and red flagged to nhs dermatology. Within a few weeks I've had my appt through. Best to get it checked out.

Yes. I had one on the side of my neck removed about 4 years ago. It caught on my collar and it would bleed and the DC’s would catch it when they gave be a hug. I wasn’t particularly worried about it, but it was ugly and irritating. I went to The Mole Clinic in London and it cost about £350, including testing. Couldn’t have been simpler. I have another Mike I should have had removed at the same time.

The dermatologist was excellent and even asked me if I wanted to watch in the mirror and/or take a video of him doing the procedure (swift answer - um, no). Apparently it’s a thing! I did think of Sporner’s Corner, but had no desire for a wedding video style keepsake.

I am interested to read all of these replies-I have a mole on my face I would love to get removed. Actually, I have one bigger one and a smaller one. Do they do a cheaper rate for removing more than one, I wonder? Like a bogoff??!

I’d tell the nhs it’s sore and itchy and see if you get an appointment. If not then look at options. It’s a postcode lottery. You may be lucky.

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/04/2023 14:55

I had one on my leg lasered off at my local SK:N clinic. Worth every penny.
