Dog barking next door

I've had problems since I moved here a few years back with next doors dog barking continuously and the neighbours not doing anything about it as 'it's what dogs do'. I've had a few nice words with them now and it stops but then starts up again. The dog barks non-stop for the 8 hours she's at work, but it's the barking when she's home but upstairs/in the garden that gets to me. The dog has anxiety issues and it sounds like it's in my house when it barks. It's that loud.

I know that their house is bought, so any neighbour disputes they's have to declare if they wanted to sell, but WIBU to go to the council now? The arsehole dog and owners have just ruined my leisurely Sunday breakfast by the dog barking and screeching all throughout it. I can even hear it over the TV.

I have started to dread coming home from work as it's so noisy.

You shouldn’t have to feel like this in your own home op. Can you keep a diary so you have some evidence. I would speak to the council and see what they suggest. Youve tried being polite and its not made any difference. Just be prepared for a possible fallout

Record it on your phone.
Personally I'd want to put dog barking on my speakers full blast and leave it on for the crappy neighbours, but that's not going to be helpful in real life!

Does she leave it for 8 hours? That in itself is not on at all. Poor thing (and poor you, it sounds so disturbing). Id be keeping a diary, note the times and length of barking and make some recordings as well so you have some evidence if you need to report her.

We had this once. We had to move in the end.

She had the audacity to complain about us having a bbq once and also putting the radio on in the garden. I explained this was to drown out the barking. She still didn't get the message.

I sold to family of 5 with 3 boisterous kids. After they viewed the house the barky neighbour came over to whinge about them stomping on the stairs and how it ruined her lunch. When they offered on the house I happily and vengefully accepted.

😁

Well yes dogs do bark but the majority not constantly. I have dogs but if they bark outside they are brought in straight away. If it has anxiety issues it is cruel for it to be left for 8 hours whilst she's at work. I think you need to record it and play it to her. Maybe she doesn't realise how bad it is.

My dogs bark when someone comes to the door, so only for a few seconds but that's enough for me!

Record and report to council. It's not going to magically change so reporting it is your only option. There's no need for a dog to be annoying neighbours all the time. It's just laziness.
