Nurseries charging for bank holidays

I know I'm BU as they still need to pay their staff, but it stings so much when you're struggling and having to fork out £195 for nursery fees on days they're closed, but still work bank holidays so have to pay for bank holiday clubs too. How did our childcare provisions become so underfunded and expensive?

I figure that if they didn't charge for BH the daily rate would just be higher 🤷‍♀️ There is an amount of money they need to stay afloat however it's then divided up

Childcare is chronically under funded and under prioritised by the government, bank holiday charges or not.

This. You would still be paying for it one way ot
another.

The unreasonableness to me is changing the policy. There have been the same number of bank holidays for about 40 years, other than the odd extra one.

I thinks it feels unfair for workers who need to work BH (nurses/ shop worker etc) but then don't have childcare through nursery.

Most workers get BH off though so you're not actually losing money as you're getting paid and you're paying them.

Rent needs to be paid, staff need to be paid, insurance needs to be paid. So of course they would still charge for it. I would not have expected anything else really, same as December costs the same as other months and only has 3 weeks
