atempted to pierce dd's ears this afternoon whilst she was over there playing? DD now has a wound half way into her ear lobe made by a drawing pin! I get on fanasticaly with the mum so didn't want to make a big fuss (the girls were up i the bedroom so she was oblivious). The elder girl had her's pierced at 5 ( i don't wnt dd to have hers done until at least 13).

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek
My ds1 had a friend like that. They climbed out the top floor bedrrom window, drilled holes in the wall and the other lad pulled his teeth out with a plair to get money fro the tooth fairy. Luckily I stopped them before ds lost teeth too!

How old are the girls? Did you mention anything to the other girl's mum? It sounds like no real harm has been done this time. If it was part of a pattern or if there were other instances of this girl doing something like this to your dd (or anyone else) in future, it would be more worrying.

derah · 16/02/2008 20:47

I'd be absolutely fuming and the girl's mum should be too. With a drawing pin?!?! That's GBH!! (not meant entirely seriously, before I get flamed for taking this too seriously . I hope the girl's mum had strong words with her DD cos you can't just go around stabbing other people's children. The age the girl had her ears pierced and when you want your DD's pierced is irrelevent, it's just not safe to go jabbing drawing pins into ears.

ComeOVeneer · 16/02/2008 20:48

DD is just 6. She was fully in on it, not being bullied into it. I just am finding it very hard to explain why her friend can have hers done so early ut we don't want her to have hers done for many years.

Ear is red and swollen this morning, have put some antiseptic cream on it, and hope it isn't going to get all infected.

If they were both complicit in it then both girls should be told off. It's not like the older girl attacked the younger one. I remember doing things like this as a child.

southeastastra · 17/02/2008 17:46

omg that's awful, agree with derah. poor dd

Twiglett · 17/02/2008 17:46

agree both should be told off .. but I think this might well put her off doing it again

what did neighbour mum say?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 17/02/2008 17:47

I do think you need to mention it to the mother. Young children shouldn't have drawing pins unsupervised. A 9 year old died when she swallowed one.

DualCycloneCod · 17/02/2008 17:47

lol at drawing pin
but yes oh dear.

ComeOVeneer · 17/02/2008 17:48

The mother knows about it, both girls were told off, but I know that it wouldn't have been my dd's idea. She looks up to this girl as she is older, so would go along with it if she suggested it.

I agree both girls are to blame, i did mine aged 13 in a fit of rebellion with some pink plastic ones

Twiglett · 17/02/2008 17:50

from an outside observer's perspective (ie no emotional involvement)

the difference between a 6 and an 8 year old is negligible

ahundredtimes · 17/02/2008 17:50

YABU.

I think children do things like this. I sort of think they SHOULD actually. You are overreacting.

ScruffyTeddy · 17/02/2008 17:51

Eeek! At age 13 I pierced my own ears (for the third time) with a stud, to show my best friend's younger brother that it didn't hurt and he should let me do his.

Funnily enough he changed his mind.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 17/02/2008 17:51

?

Should inflict damage on someone else?
