To say yes to a job but go to other interviews

I've been in my current teaching job for 10 years so I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to interviews and finding a new job.

I have a few interviews coming up over the next two weeks. Hypothetically, if I was offered a job after the first interview, what should I do if I still want to have a go at the others?

The first interview is for a 3 day a week cover role so a lower paid position than the others which are main scale teaching but it is in an easier location and a lovely school. However I really wanted to hold out for a 2 day role (which I currently do as I have young children) and those interviews won't be for another week or two.

I don't want to mess anyone around but equally I want to get the position that's right for me. Help please!

If you like a job enough to say yes then take it and cancel the others. But if you don't like it enough to say absolutely yes and you're offered a job, you should let them know you have other processes you want to see through first and give them a time scale by which you will have a decision. If they want you enough they will wait.

Agree

Take them all - if you get more than 1 offer, it puts you in a better position to negotiate pay, plus you have a pick of jobs which is always going to be more advantageous than taking whatever is offered first! Good luck

I agree with this. It's OK so long as you are honest about it. Please, please don't imply a firm acceptance when in reality to are actively persuing other options. You would be messing them around hugely. Recruitment is expensive, time consuming and stressful, and if you accept an offer and then withdraw the school may miss the boat on their second choice candidate, leaving them back at the beginning.

Be honest. And play the field. I'm on a hiring panel and honestly all it would do is possible have us prioritise moving things along quickly. It wouldn't affect your chances either way.
