Are your primary aged kids going to watch the coronation?

AIBU in assuming that they will want to? They’ll probably be learning about it in school.

i work at a children’s Saturday morning activity that will still run on that morning and I’m assuming no one will turn up! I’m not allowed to ask the parents if they will or not, I just have to be there regardless. So what do you think? Will I be there on my own while the kids are watching the coronation and eating cake?

I’ll have it on the TV and they can watch it as they please. I’ll probably shout them when he’s having the crown put on his head to see if they want to see it.

No. It's not like Charles isn't already King and hasn't already named Camilla as Queen.

It's not like the old days where Edward of Kent or Richard of Gloucester can raise an army to challenge the crown on the basis of also being great great grandchildren of Queen Victoria (like Queen Elizabeth was).

It's all pomp, nonsense and a colossal waste of money. I don't know a single person who's vaguely interested in watching it.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/04/2023 14:28

He will watch bits of it live or later, but if he had an activity on he would definitely go to that.

Highfivemum · 26/04/2023 14:33

Oh yes most definitely. Well that’s the idea anyway. Have ordered nice nibbles and decorations and going to enjoy it all. I want them part of it and they have all got little crowns and coronation t shirts.

DanceMonster · 26/04/2023 14:34

Doubt it. We’ll probably go out somewhere for the day. It’s dull watching for an adult, let alone a child.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 26/04/2023 14:36

My eldest nah not interested in the slightest, my youngest is sort of keen. We home Ed though and I kind of feel like I should make something of it but I just can't summon the enthusiasm so don't see why I should force it

SwapTheYforaD · 26/04/2023 14:47

Yes!

DiscoDragon · 26/04/2023 14:49

No! We're really not into all that nonsense in this house and I can't think of a more boring way to spend our time tbh.

WheelsUp · 26/04/2023 14:50

I think that people who are interested will record it and watch it later or watch the highlights on YouTube/iplayer.

Favouritefruits · 26/04/2023 14:51

Both children have swimming lessons and dancing on a Sat so doubt we will watch.

Theprincessisblanketed · 26/04/2023 14:51

I will certainly put some of it on for them as it's a historic event, but not necessarily going to bother watching it 'live', it's TV it can go on when convenient for us.
