When ever he goes ro a bar ? He stands on tip toe one foot , mostly two ?
he says its because he is leaning , but he cleary is not .
he is quite short , but has always always maintained it is not an issue .. and ro be honest it seems thar he is happy in his skin .
it looks so odd ? Im sure i have my habits too !

Trying to make himself more noticeable, I’d assume.

Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:12

But he does it when there is only him at the bar too . !

It just looks so odd

I thought this was going to be about just walking on tip toes sometimes, which I and my cousin have done since childhood... But I have no experience with this, does sound weird.

RobertaFirmino · 25/04/2023 21:15

Why on earth are you asking us? He's the only one who can give you the answer!

Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:18

Because he says he has no idea he does it !

I do this. Couldn't tell you why though, I don't stand on tip toe generally. Must just be a weird habit.

ThisNameIsNotAvailable · 25/04/2023 21:19

Habit? I’m pretty short and stand on tip toes at the bar so I can lean over and talk to the bar person

Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:22

I dont get why he has no idea he does it . One min he is stood normally , the next on tip toes .

OP posts:
Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:22

Maybe its due to the bar like you say !

I do that too, always have, when I'm washing up, too. It's unconscious, just always done it.
I'm short, but not so short that I can't reach standing normally.
I read somewhere that it's a form of stimming (was looking up asd and adhd, though I don't think I have either of those, just the standing on tiptoe. Ok I do flap my arms about sometimes too...does your dh do that too :) ?).

s14a · 25/04/2023 21:23

I do it.

I've been given 2 explanations previously:
-neurodivergence (suspected adhd but not diagnosed)
-short tendons in lower leg

For me, it just feels really uncomfortable for my feet to be flat on the floor. It's worse in shoes without a heel (like ballet shoes or trainers)

Magicmagician · 25/04/2023 21:24

I do this too when I’m at a bar 😂

Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:25

No he does not flap his arms . 😊

He was clearly a ballerina in a previous life.

shivawn · 25/04/2023 21:25

This is totally normal? People often lean over the bar to catch the barman's attention. I do it myself.

Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:26

Ha ha !

OP posts:
Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:26

But he dows it and soes not touch the bar to lean

I was about to suggest ASD too, but obviously not.

WaltzingWaters · 25/04/2023 21:27

I’m short (5 ft) and I do this! I also do it when washing up, cooking etc. Not the whole time but a lot. Not cause I can’t reach or anything, just makes me a bit taller. I didn’t realise until an ex pointed it out to me! I’m very happy in my skin and all but I keep doing it. Feels natural to me and gives those calf muscles a workout!

BranchGold · 25/04/2023 21:27

It’s obviously a habit from standing at bars that would be busy and trying to alert someone behind the bar for attention. That and to see what’s behind the bar, drinks/snacks selection.

Afraitodiscuss · 25/04/2023 21:27

Such as in the queue or by himslef but bot leaning on the bbar at all
