But know it has to be done and just want all the bloody stress taken out of deciding what and how much and if everyone will eat it and is it easy and not take 15 pans to make.
I have a family to feed. Can't please everyone all of the time but I am so over it. I literally detest cooking anything now. It's not good. I want to enjoy it again.

I often love cooking but lately I've been in a slump. For the last month I've been ordering Hello Fresh boxes and it's helped a lot. Some of the recipes are a bit more involved than planned (you can check the recipe before choosing. I didn't) but even the more complicated recipes have been manageable. All of them have been delicious.

I don't enjoy cooking at all and my favourite book is Nigella's Express. Really quick, she has pared the ingredients down and yet the meals are still very tasty. Her curry and chilli are my go to meals.

Batch cooking is your friend. My mum used to cook a stew on a Sunday and it fed us Sunday to Wednesday (she'd sometimes change sides on a Tuesday I.e.potatoes or pasta instead of rice). She then cooked something quick on a Thursday and on a Friday we always went out for dinner.

Get hold of a copy of the I hate to Cook Book by Peg Bracken. It's a blast.

Snippet of the Peg Bracken book: "Simmer for five minutes while you light a cigarette and stare sullenly at the sink" 😅

'Economy gastronomy' by allegra mcevedy is really good- it's arranged with a 'base meal' then using elements to make 2 or 3 other meal. Lots of good tips on money saving whilst eating well too.... as the title suggests.

Can anyone add to this with books suitable for vegetarians? I keep buying cookbooks only to discover there's not a single veggie recipe there!

But what are the rest of your family doing to share the load? Do any of them cook, shop, plan or clean up? Are they reasonably flexible about what they eat or do they all have contradictory likes, dislikes and dietary preferences. It's not all down to you, especially if they're the ones being difficult.

On accidentally writing a cookbook

I accidentally wrote a cookbook that doesn’t follow any rules and has some swears in it.It is for normal people who like/need to cook but also have a medium amount of damns to give. It will especially work for people who want to read a recipe, definite...

Have you seen the Roasting Tin cookbooks by Rukhmini Iyer ? All ingredients into one tin and into the oven. Saves faffing and washing up.

I second this suggestion, we have all the Rukhmini Iyer books. Everything is all in one roasting dish usually. And it’s delicious and healthy. Cannot recommend these books enough, they’ve revolutionised dinner time for us.
